In September 2002 Mika Vainio, Ryoji Ikeda and Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) were invited by the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art for a residency. As a result of this project three live performances followed this research period.

All the tracks on this record were recorded live on September 23, 2002 at the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art in Newcastle, UK.

“Edmondson first came to my attention with his Lobster Theramin distributed release, Flamingo Tripper, on his own label “Lissoms”. 
Or so I thought… Turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in Newcastle. Back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, he’s now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat.
Edmondson (or Sean as I did know him... and how I know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and I couldn’t be happier that we’ve reconnected and he’s kindly allowed Me Me Me to present some of his amazing music.
"We Have Love” is an instant classic, and PSG is a work of pure emotive art. To remix We Have Love, I’ve enlisted Dauwd (fresh from his amazing Album on Technicolour). Sean suggested him, and I jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people I met when I moved to Berlin 4 years ago, and I’ve been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. He takes a We Have Love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. It’s very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. To remix PSG I asked ASOK. Again, I thought I first met ASOK about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party I used to throw in Newcastle. After becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in Magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. Thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. I’m biased, but I think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and I LOVE everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. Minor wanderings using the three instruments out of the instrument list (piano, cello, clarinet) on this week's project. I couldn't help myself and added effects on top, but left them small enough that they might not even be noticeable. I admit I didn't fully understand whether small intervals meant intervals between note presence or intervals between pitches so I kind of ignored both. Haven't done a homework in a while, so this was fun!

Crisopa’s original 2017 release of Transhumante (via the Sound in Silence label) presented an immersive suite of deeply evocative and melodic ambient electronica. These surging, emotive tracks simultaneously summon forth aching nostalgia and a blissful state of hopefulness. ‘blind’ is a reflection about human limitations. Interviewed about agnosticism, David Attenborough brilliantly stresses the point whether we’re missing senses to perceive and understand the world around us - what a pretension it would be! Built as a subtle transition from acoustic to electronic, the piece blends genres, deconstructs categories, pushes back boundaries alongside a spectrum reflecting human’s potential to self-transcendence. Might we be blind at night, at least we aren’t deaf.

'blind' est une réflexion sur les limitations humaines. Un jour interviewé à propos de l'agnosticisme, David Attenborough s'interrogeait à savoir si nous possédions tous les sens nécessaires pour percevoir et comprendre le monde qui nous entoure - quelle prétention ce serait d’y croire! Construite en subtile transition de l'acoustique vers l'électronique, la pièce métisse les genres, déconstruit les catégories, repousse les limites en proposant un spectre reflétant le potentiel humain à l'autotranscendance. Quote "Shedding Layers by Rob Clouth is easily my favourite piece of electronic music that I have heard so far in 2018" (Andy Fosberry).......so how am I supposed to remix that!?....it was a difficult track to approach.

I decided I had to stay true to the original core of the track, the main melodic elements, which I just complemented with some new prophet chords. Then for the rest of the remix it was more of a matter of augmenting than a typical remix. I spent a loooong time working on detailing for this, I wanted to try and bring some industrial sounds in to push further the intensity that Rob had created, and push the sound design complexity as far as I felt I could get away with in the context of what is basically a techno track for clubs.

It's definitely one of the most intense remixes I've worked on for some time, and I've been playing it out a lot recently with good effect. But I hope it can also work as an interesting home listening track. As usual I put a lot of effort into the binaural and general stereo design, so if you listen with headphones you should hear sounds pop out at you, fly behind your head, that sort of thing. I wanted to turn all those clicks and strange noises into an immersive cloud dancing around your head.

The remix package has amazing work by Ben Lukas Boysen, Brecon and Chihei Hatakeyama on there, some beautiful ambient and peaceful moments as well as this monstrosity, I'm certain can you find something in there which will make your day better!
