@Marie_Julie is a vinyl only dj and a true vinyl aficionada. Known for her regular sets at Brussels’ iconic Fuse Club and a busy gig schedule across Belgium, she’s also graced the decks at Amsterdam’s De School, Berlin’s Tresor and Paris’ Spectrum Waves, making waves internationally.
Marie-Julie made a name for herself with her outstanding track selection and carefully crafted sets with deep takes, groovy parts, exhilarating heights and contemplating ends.
For our 91st Spectrum Waves, she offers us a fresh, summery techno podcast, filled with new vinyl she's recently unearthed.

Lacking no oomph, the mixes of Amsterdam’s one and only Mary Lake tick all the boxes of a quality hi-NRG set. Boasting a definite knack for those volatile hotchpotches of big-room-ready jack and a surgical DJing skillset, Mary treats us to a frantic whirlwind of paced-up machine funk and absolutely imparable industrial-inflected maneuvers. Cranking the heat one notch up with every bar, the Dutch DJ certainly knows how to bring dance floors to a simmer and keep crowds under her spell through wave after wave of an uncompromising floor-destroying exposé. No-surrender, adrenaline-stacked ripper of a mix thru and thru, consider yourselves warned for the tumultuous ride ahead. Hectic.

For my first visit in San Francisco, I had the immense pleasure of playing at Endzeit party in collaboration with Club Moniker & hyper k in a new warehouse space, with an amazing sound system and a great vibe making it a memorable night.

Psyk is a key player in Spanish techno, an acclaimed talent with firm emphasis on deep, repetitive loops. He has become synonymous with high-quality, trippy and smart as a tack rhythms. For the last two decades since he started out on Madrid’s clandestine rave beat, he’s developed and advanced a sound to near perfection: raw and technically agile, pelagic echoes from the abyss that have shifted with their changing times. 2011 saw him launch the widely renowned Non Series, a platform releasing the work of similar vein artists like DJ Nobu, Architectural, Neel, Nastia Reigel, Tauceti, Blawan, Luigi Tozzi, Function and Rrose, generating buzz and ardent following. His own releases on labels like Mote Evolver, Semantica and Tresor, intermittent forays on his own label under the alias Maan, as well as his co-project Second Skin (est. 2022) alongside fellow Madrileño Oscar Mulero have been slowly gaining traction in a contemporary music landscape replete with talent. Though the rate of productions is decelerating his touring schedule marches forward at full tilt, adding recent Bassiani dates to those at a list of must-play venues like Fabric, Berghain, Fuse, Tresor and Amsterdam’s shuttered DeSchool. His expert drones and algorithmic beat patterns are in a process of continuing evolution and whatever comes next is sure to be even better than his already outstanding catalogue of work. Bassiani Podcast 258 is an 80-minute expedition into a murky world of Psyk’s design, sweeping and purist techno from this heavyweight selector.

Founded in 2017 by David Le Naour and Léa Occhi, Spectrum Waves was born from a deep desire: to create a new space for expression, gathering, and experimentation within the LGBTQIA+ community. Rooted in electronic music culture, the collective offers a sanctuary of inclusivity, free expression, aiming to host events where everyone feels safe and welcome.

These events, crafted in an immersive, dreamlike atmosphere, are a true celebration of queer culture. A space where everyone can be their most authentic self. It’s not just about the music; it’s an invitation to dance, express, and honor the diversity of identities and experiences.

Since its creation, Spectrum Waves has established its home at La Station – Gare des Mines. All events push boundaries, blending art, lighting, live performances, and energetic sets. With a lineup spotlighting both emerging and recognized artists, we cultivate a range of electronic sound that is subtle, rhythmic, and mentally engaging.

Equality and diversity are at the heart of our approach. We emphasize gender parity and shine a spotlight on women in the electronic music scene. Moreover, the collective supports essential causes such as LGBTQIA+ rights, migrant assistance, and environmental preservation by donating part of each event's proceeds to various organizations.
