Name Origins:
G. Aide's first name, "Garrett", is one of the names available to the Guide NPC of Terraria, alongside "Maxwell" and many others. 
His last name "Aide" was chosen because "A" and "E" are the initials of "All-Encompassing", and also because it references his role.
When the abbreviation of his first name is put together with his last, the result resembles the word "Guide".
