("Brawing Up" is a title that I'd like to know the etymology behind. Is it supposed to be "Brawling?" It's a memorable title for this reason alone.)
Heard this tune in an AVGN ytpmv a couple years back. Finally committed to doing my own cover. I think it sounds pretty $wædʒ.

The first step was I wrote it for Solo Piano in MuseScore. Since the method for reference wasn't quite as 1:1 as it'd be working in just FL, though, the melody's structure ended up messing with me. I ended up un-syncopating the bass, then from there added extraneous notes to the melody and a fifth beat to the 1st section's last bar. I couldn't even tell I'd made that mistake until like a month later (this week) when I imported the sequence into FL.
Also, the 2nd run of the B section is my recollection of the melody from before I started making the cover. Because even though it's mistaken I love that "C-B partial, leap to A-C partial" phrase to death.

For the 1st section I took inspiration from pipca's recent mm9 "Castle of Evil" SS cover and gave the harm-hi a panning LFO. Can't recall if I added a Mar2-lo before or after that, but I gave that a panning LFO as well. To give it more of a mystical effect though I made it a slower speed. 
When I added the oboe for the 2nd section's accompaniment, I had the idea of doubling up the Harm-hi with it. That ended up fleshing out the 1st part's melody a lot. Later, when I added the church organ, its release time had a profound effect on how the marimba's echoing sounded, which was a nice li'l happenstance.

Originally, the bass and accompanying Acc-lo both had amplifiers put on them, but eventually I wanted to see what it'd sound like with vanilla Sponge and no effects outside the realm of what you'd hear in the game, and at this point I no longer need them anyway. Still, I wonder what that'd be like now that the full mix is done. I have yet to see.

Pipca reblogged a thing for this on twitter. Since she's been doing WL4 stuff recently it's kinda rekindled my interest in WL4 soundfont covers a bit, which I'm happy about.
Took me about 28 minutes to completely arrange in SynthFont using the sequence from m3_ulti_rip

An XG sequence I got from this .zip I found by searching up "ffvii official midi sequences". After the first round of inserting effects and instruments, I had to have the master around 58% or something. Eventually I imported the audio for j-e-n-o-v-a (god i hate typing that) into FL, to get a more accurate sound. As part of that I tried to bring over the mixing and reverb settings you hear in the real tune. By the time I was finished, I was able to have the Master Fader at 100% :)

This originally was something I made almost a year ago but it was just four descending chords with a trap beat so i decided to scrap that all together.
