The dazzling, sprawling sonic atmospheres conjured by Brooklyn-based band Parrot Dream envelop and spur the dreamer in all of us. Formed by Christina Hansen Appel (vocals, keys) and Gonzalo Guerrero (guitar) in Santiago, Chile in 2013, the duo relocated to Brooklyn, NY and quickly began making strides amassing more than half a million streams on Spotify.

This time would go on to inspire the material that now comprises Parrot Dream’s debut full-length, Light Goes. Signing to Good Eye Records, the LP will see release digitally and on vinyl, including a limited Blood Red color run, on August 24th, 2018.

The album was written over a span of two years and touches on themes of connection, love, memories and clarity. The driving title track immediately pulls you into the lush world of Light Goes as Appel’s hypnotic synths and wistful vocals meet Guerrero’s incendiary guitars sparking a fire that burns throughout the LP. Oscillating between uplifting and elegiac, Parrot Dream draw you in to wade in deep, kaleidoscopic pools of sound as they build up towering, crystalline crescendos.

"Light Goes" is out August 24th and is the eighth release from Good Eye Records.

Shormey realized her passion for making music when she was 14 and would work on making beats in her room. She developed her talents and was ready to begin making solo music at age 21 and while she still makes music in her bedroom, her sound has evolved to something she’s ready for the world to hear.

It’s hard to exactly pinpoint Shormey’s sound, but it’s characterized by the disco-esque, feel-good vibes of the 70’s. She’s got an old soul and pulls a lot of musical inspiration from artists of that decade. She’s released songs online and has curated a mini EP that she hand personalized herself, titled God Bless Bob Ross: A Collection of Low Fidelity Recordings, which she hands out after her performances.

Shormey currently lives in Chesapeake, VA, but she’s done shows in Richmond at Gallery 5, Strange Matter, and various house parties. She’s looking forward to putting out more music in the near future.

I wrote “She’s What We Need” because I believe there is a gross underrepresentation of women in our society - whether that be on festival lineups, in board rooms or in congress. The scale has been tipped for as long as anyone can remember, and now, it would seem, we are toppling over. We need women’s voices - we need everyone’s voice - in order to implement and maintain balance in this world. The world and its people benefit when everyone can be heard equally.

This is the second of two versions of this song. While the first version sounds more polished, I wanted this one to sound like a rallying cry. I wanted it to be something you could sing in the streets or at a march, without accompaniment - like a hymn or a prayer. It's not a plea. It's not asking for help. We're lifting one another up, because that's where our power is.

Speedy Wunderground – A ten-point plan

1. Speedy Wunderground is a new label which begins on February 25th 2013 with the release of “I Go Out” by Steve Mason & Emiliana Torrini.

2. Speedy Wunderground is the idea of producer Dan Carey. Dan will produce all releases. All records will be recorded at Dan’s South London studio. Dan has previously produced Franz Ferdinand, Bat For Lashes, TOY, Willy Mason, Django Django, Emiliana Torrini, The Kills, Chairlift and Steve Mason.

3. Recording of all records will be done in one day and finish before midnight. The recordings will be a snapshot of the day. Mixing will be done the day following the recording, also in one day only. This will prevent over-cooking and ‘faff’.

4. There will be no lunch break during recording and mixing days.

5. Overdubs will be kept to a minimum allowing the recordings to be free of clutter.

6. The recordings will appear in limited runs of two hundred and fifty 7”s, which will be in the shops as soon as humanly possible following their completion.

7. The core of each song will be a live take recorded in the dark with smoke and lazers and somewhere on each record the Swarmatron – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJyub78p924 - will make an appearance.

8. Speedy Wunderground work quickly. There will be as a little delay as possible between recording and release. Speedy Wunderground records will not sit on the shelf gathering dust waiting to be released.

9. Speedy Wunderground will release each year’s recordings as a compilation at the end of the year.

10. Speedy Wunderground Records will not be slow.
