The usual noisy start with Slotface and CTMF before we get to the Sinead O'Brien which is different: uptempo, and spoken word, but not rap. We then get a taster of Khruangbin's dub album, before we go all disco with Neapolitan Soul and keep things dance with MUNA. Summer is now here, and that's reflected in the tunes by The Bliss and Slenderbodies. To close we chill out with Spade Brooks and slow things down even more with Christopher Willits. Best track? CTMF can do no wrong in my book, and I really like the jaunty, summery sounds of The Bliss and Slenderbodies, but Sinead O'Brien's "Taking on Time" gets the nod ahead of the rest.

Luca Morrone was raised in Naples on a mix of disco, soul music and R&B and later the sound of "Victor Simonelli" and "MASTERS AT WORK” which led him to become a resident dj at the club METROPOLIS in his native Italy.

With his girlfriend PIA they established the "Neapolitan Soul" group, playing a mix of disco, funk soulful and afro house music.

His debut release for Z Records is a stretched out jazzy instrumental that shifts around between rhodes, clav and vibes. Despite being 12 minutes long it manages to avoid repetition or becoming too noodley, keeping the dancefloor groove to the fore.

Neapolitan Soul - Welcome To The Dub (Phunky Trip)

'Find Sound' is the debut record from Shards, a London based vocal group led by singer, composer and producer Kieran Brunt. Combining voices, synths and percussion, Find Sound is an astonishing exploration of the human voice; using the concepts of sound and light as simple metaphors for gaining understanding. The album’s pieces are intended to be miniature sonic paintings, with each adding to an overall picture of the emotional confusion of early adulthood: the uncertainty, the excitement, the terror and relief.

After collaborating with Terry Riley in 2016, Brunt was asked by the Barbican to form a choral group for Nils Frahm’s Possibly Colliding festival that summer. Following the success of the shows, Frahm invited Brunt to join him in Berlin to collaborate on choral arrangements for his recent album 'All Melody'. Shards have since gone on to collaborate with other notable artists, including Michael Price on his recent LP 'Tender Symmetry'.

Each of the singers in Shards brings a very distinctive musical personality to the group, something which Brunt was eager to emphasise on their debut record. Rather than aiming for a seamless blend or absolute precision when recording, the differences between voices has been intentionally highlighted — celebrating their unique textures and inviting the listener to hear their minutest details up-close.

"The group ended up consisting almost entirely of friends and friends-of-friends. I also tried my best to ask people who weren’t just singers, but who do have other projects and musical interests. As such, we have people in the group who are also composers, instrumentalists, folk musicians and teachers. Speedy Wunderground – A ten-point plan

1. Speedy Wunderground is a new label which begins on February 25th 2013 with the release of “I Go Out” by Steve Mason & Emiliana Torrini.

2. Speedy Wunderground is the idea of producer Dan Carey. Dan will produce all releases. All records will be recorded at Dan’s South London studio. Dan has previously produced Franz Ferdinand, Bat For Lashes, TOY, Willy Mason, Django Django, Emiliana Torrini, The Kills, Chairlift and Steve Mason.

3. Recording of all records will be done in one day and finish before midnight. The recordings will be a snapshot of the day. Mixing will be done the day following the recording, also in one day only. This will prevent over-cooking and ‘faff’.

4. There will be no lunch break during recording and mixing days.

5. Overdubs will be kept to a minimum allowing the recordings to be free of clutter.

6. The recordings will appear in limited runs of two hundred and fifty 7”s, which will be in the shops as soon as humanly possible following their completion.

7. The core of each song will be a live take recorded in the dark with smoke and lazers and somewhere on each record the Swarmatron – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJyub78p924 - will make an appearance.

8. Speedy Wunderground work quickly. There will be as a little delay as possible between recording and release. Speedy Wunderground records will not sit on the shelf gathering dust waiting to be released.

9. Speedy Wunderground will release each year’s recordings as a compilation at the end of the year.

10. Speedy Wunderground Records will not be slow.
