'Spektre's record label Respekt, drops a driving two-track techno release by Sam Kitt.

Sam Kitt is a Welsh artist who had a big year in 2022 with releases on labels such as Christian Smith's Tronic and his debut on Respekt. Prior to that, he has also contributed to imprints such as T78's Autektone.

His first outing on Respekt was a track on Respekt Rebels vol.4, and this time he's back with a solo EP that showcases his hard-hitting style in all its glory.

"Phantom Limb" opens the release with its thumping kick drum, rattling hi-hats and eerie atmospherics that lay the foundation for the twisted euphoria of the spine-tingling lead synth. "Tensile" is built from a similar sound palette and is an intense track with building suspense and unstoppable momentum that's ready to engulf the dance floor.'

Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

There are no throwbacks, rehashings, or remixes of the label‘s back catalogue. Instead, the 28-track compilation showcases the newest work of Drumcode‘s current roster alongside fresh material from some well known names from the labels history and special contributions from some of techno's undisputed heavyweights.
