Another collaboration with Kayll Frappier and again she added such a wonderful heartfelt touch to one of my pieces.... We had some trouble finding the right sound, so I thank Lyod and Science Teheran for advice :-)

The great success of my first series of "Valses melancoliques" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/beneking-10-valses-melancoliques/id600563482) encouraged me to continue this musical idea of melancholic valses, resulting in 12 new valses from C minor to B minor.

The brilliant pianist Danaë Xanthe Vlasse (https://soundcloud.com/danae-vlasse) from Los Angeles / USA has recorded the whole "Swans" series. Danaë performs these works in a masterful way, bringing interpretive variety to each waltz such that each piece portrays distinct character, and all are a delight to hear!

Welcome to our version  (experimental )  on Ennio Morricone’s  “Once upon a time in the West (theme)”
We wanted to do an experiment, make a piece in complete free hand (free motion) without metronome, starting to create choirs first to make them sound as realistic as possible, and then create an orchestra around those tracks.

We split up the song in 2 parts, as by hearing the original soundtrack has 2 different rhythms / tempo’s, and we worked on those 2 parts separately, without consulting each other as we normally do by Skype, email  or telephone.

As we all know people hear and experience different things in music, and we just wanted to see how close our creations would come together in the pre-production, when all the tracks were completed,  I cut all the tracks in bits of 1 second, and I allowed myself to make slight changes within parts of 0,125 second on all tracks to make both Matt’s and my instruments sound as smooth as possible, keeping the Ennio’s main theme sound recognizable for everybody, and still give it our own signature at the same time, because we don’t  want to sound like copy-cats.

Most musicians and composers will say that’s impossible, as we also thought so ourselves ( especially as Matt lives in England and I in Holland, so we can’t sit next to each other ), but we did it anyway, another prove that collaborating and creating music together for almost 3 years, makes us a solid team, and we understand each other almost blindly, and I am very proud of Matt what he has accomplished through the years, and honored to work together with him.
Although this may not sound exactly like the soundtrack most of you know it, we hope you will enjoy our version too.

We are planning to do the “final” of Ennio’s composition (which is longer) later this year, with real voices.

Eternal Voyage is my attempt to capture that feeling we all know of sitting on a long train ride, headphones on, staring out the window as the world passes by. Fields, trees, cities, people, nature… all blending together while the music carries you somewhere else.  

I’ve done this countless times myself, and I wanted to put that emotion into a song. It’s about that special kind of daydreaming where the music feels like your travel companion.  

It’s also the kind of track you can fall asleep to in the same way I’ve often replayed a song after a journey, lying in bed and drifting off while imagining I was still traveling. That’s what Eternal Voyage is about, the soundtrack to those quiet, endless journeys in our imagination.  

This track is released under a Creative Commons license. It’s royalty-free and safe to use in your projects, videos, or streams. All I ask is a simple shoutout or credit if you use it.

Maestro Ennio Morricone composed Chi Mai in 1971 for the Italian movie Maddalena (Chi Mai means Who Ever in Italian). It was also the soundtrack of the beautiful ending of 1981 French film Le Professionnel starring Jean-Paul Belmondo who insisted on reusing this music. Chi Mai was also reused in some other movies and TV series and is part of French pop culture thanks to a memorable dog food TV ad for Royal Canin, where the music is playing while a dog is running in slow motion.

The piano is a Klavins Una Corda 64-key upright with felt.
