Elysium is all about: Efficient rhythms meet intricate instrumentations, seamlessly sewn together by the virtuous violin play of Seth Schwarz. The intense harmony of this title is a perfect match for Mollono.Bass who fills his hypnotic remix with jangling sound fragments before they eventually add up to the symphonic dimensions of the original. The Canooby Tune on the flipside of this record gives full expression to the open-minded character of Seth Schwarz, featuring a jazzy double bass, a bouncy piano, and broken beat textures. Last but not least the gentlemen Dole & Kom turn this vivid jam session into a trembling dose of floorward pressure.

After opening up the account on their new label earlier this year, Krankbrother return to the imprint with two new tracks, which show off the differing shades of their musical dexterity.

Up on our Debut Transmission is A-side ‘When You’re Watching Me’, a fully formed Summer belter, which ticks all the boxes required for a modern day, sunrise dance classic. A thunderous sub-bass line booms over delicate drums, the percussion lightly soaked in reverb as the filters open and close on the soft & melodic arpeggiated riffs.

All the hallmarks of a classic piece of euphoric electronica are here, best exemplified by the syrupy female vox and Balearic tones, and a hefty breakdown that really ramps up the drama. Shades of the 90’s big guns like Underworld and Fluke are here, but perhaps more in the grandiose style in which ‘When You’re Watching Me’ has been delivered, either way, it’s most certainly one of Krankbrother’s best to date.

Dabei hatte er Spaß, die Grundlinie einer ziemlich berühmten Disco-Spur neu zu erstellen. “ Er möge es, Genres auseinanderzunehmen. „Deshalb war ich damals amüsiert, ein freches Banjo-Riff mit Rock-Trommeln und dieser Bass-Hook zu mischen“, gesteht der dänische Musiker. Seth Schwarz teamed up with his funky fellow Be Svendsen, and together they created something that has the same UV index and the same amount of fresh air as a festival with perfect climatic conditions: During its epic 10 minutes of play time, their highly melodic track “Elves of Karoo” grows just as big and exciting as a full weekend on a dancefloor bathed in a generous amount of direct sunlight. Furthermore, Seth Schwarz adds the solo track “Quando Rando” that is slower but just as compelling and that reflects the classical composition skills of this producer in an intriguingly subliminal way. The amount of great producers who contribute remixes for this EP lives up to the idea of a perfect festival, as well – a festival for lovers of catchy yet sophisticated dance music, that is.

Seth Schwarz und Be Svendsen haben gemeinsam etwas geschaffen, dessen UV-Index und Frischluftgehalt einem Festival mit Bilderbuch-Bedingungen entspricht: Ihr hochgradig melodiöser Track “Elves of Karoo” ist in seinen epischen 10 Minuten Spielzeit mindestens genauso groß und ereignisreich wie ein Wochenende auf einer Tanzfläche unter freiem Himmel. Im Alleingang legt Seth Schwarz außerdem den etwas langsameren, aber genauso zugkräftigen Titel “Quando Rando” nach, in dem er seine klassischen Kompositionskünste mit zurückhaltender Eleganz einsetzt. Die Menge der hochkarätigen Künstler, welche für die Remixes an Bord geholt wurden, entspricht übrigens ebenfalls dem Bild eines Festivals mit Bilderbuch-Bedingungen für Freunde eingängiger und doch anspruchsvoller Tanzmusik.
