This is a first shot with the Dave Smith/Roger Linn Tempest. I did not attempt to manipulate in real time other then to mute/unmute a track or two. I spewed a bunch into Logic, chopped out a chunk, added fades, and exported.

Richard Aylward (aka Spitting Lama) has been been making music of some sort or other since a tender age. He's had training in both piano, guitar, music theory, and audio production. His musical heroes are Jean-Michel Jarre, Van Morrison and his keyboard players Pete Bardens (RIP) and Mark Isham, Jan Hammer, and Brian Transeau (bt). 

The pivotal event in his musical life was getting a Minimoog synthesizer for Christmas at the age of 14. That gift led to a fascination with music technology that has been with him for more than a quarter of a century. Richard started working with MIDI in the 1980s using a Sequential Circuits Six-Trak and a Commodore 64 computer running Dr. T's KCS. The Six-Trak was one of the first synths with MIDI and is believed to be the firsrt truly multi-timbral MIDI instrument. And it still works.

Richard was a semester short of earning a Masters Certificate in Music Production and Technology from Berkleemusic. Several tunes from Spitting Lama consists of class projects that were graded A or A+.  

His work has been produced using everything from Dr. T's KCS and Roger Powell's Texture to the more modern DAWS of Logic, Reason, Live, Pro Tools, Cubase, Digital Performer and Cakewalk/SONAR.  Richard now usually sticks to Logic and Reason and uses plug-ins by Universal Audio (UAD), Urs Heckman (u-he), Korg, Arturia, and 2C Audio.   

Over the past two years Richard has been building and reconfiguring a rather large Eurorack/Frac/Asys modular synthesizer known as the LAMASPIT for Lama's Amazing Modular Analog Synthsizer for the Production of Infinitudinal Timbrosity. It easily interfaces with Spitting Lama's older semi-modular Moog Voyager-based system.  

Richard is equally happy working with music technology and synthesizers or plugging away at his long term goal of being able to sit down at a piano and improvise a complete and interesting musical idea.
