The EP opens with its title track, finally released after circulating in sets by M.E.S.H. and object blue for years. Exemplifying recharged energy, the titular piece is a mechanised swagger of emboldened electronics that strut onto the scene under the repeating mantra of ‘trying something new’ – a statement optimistically encouraging the listener to join in the artist’s efforts to break mental barriers surrounding the self.

Human Movement, the project of Edward McDonald has entered new heights over the past year. The artistic focus has evolved from club focussed house tracks to delicately curated and well thought out dance music spanning from a range of influences in UK Garage, breakbeat and techno. Recent support from DJ Boring, DJ Seinfeld and Brame & Hamo has solidified Human Movement's new solo chapter as a key name in Australian underground dance music. Between releases he's provided us with his latest B Side, 'Addicted' a breaky, UK garage inspired breakbeat number, with influences ranging from jazz to dub.

"Shifts explores innovative ways to perform sound. Using the programming language Max/MSP, Haku Sungho and Misantrop have each developed unique tools for music improvisation.
[...]
Misantrop (Nicolai Vesterkær Krog) is a Danish music/sound artist, DJ, instigator of the Foul-Up label, and half of Berlin’s Force Field event series team. Adding to ongoing interest in presence, Misantrop has been increasingly focused on performativity. During Shifts, Misantrop will be performing using his new tool “Shapeshifter”. In conjunction with a Roland TR-707 drum machine, an array of digital and physical sound sources are triggered, creating a palette of morphing, merging, and juxtaposing sounds. With its queer perspective, “Shapeshifter” adds to an ongoing scrutiny of style-worshipping as an extension of exclusion."
