Rave On

Dj Dzheimz had his first mix on two Technics SL1200 & a mixer in 1995. First, he was mixing house music at friends' parties in small underground clubs like Bel Air & Müürivahe 33 1/3.

In few years he discovered drum'n'bass sound, because of the raves that were held in Kinomaja and Tselluloosi Katlamaja - the sound was so powerful and he wanted to create something like that. He was also listening to the radioshows hosted by Estonian legendary
dj-s Koit Raudsepp and Raul Saaremets to get ideas for production. Metalheadz, No U Turn, 31, Prototype and later on Virus were the labels that he was impressed by. Artists like Ed Rush & Optical, Trace, Nico, Adam F, Boymerang, Goldie & Grooverider were making the most technical and original production in that time. Dj set, that shaped his future was played by Ed Rush at "Operatsioon B" in Estonian Arts University in October 1997.
As a producer, Dzheimz has produced and co-produced three full lenght artist albums: Dzheimz "Bel Air" 1998, Probe "Gas-mask" 1999, Dzheimz & Ninja "Newdancebeat!" 2000; also his tracks and remixes have been released on a number of compilations and singles.
In 2002, while staying in New York for Summer, Dzheimz slightly broadened his musical grip by discovering breaks. Breaks, what really got him burning was similar to drum'n'bass - rolling drums and rough basslines -, but a little bit slower. That’s why he is calling his style breaks’n’bass. At the same time, he was monitoring drum'n'bass scene and now is playing both drum'n'bass and breaks’n’bass sets.

Dzheimz has been spinning records in most of the major venues in Estonia, but also in Riga, Helsinki and even New York. Dzheimz is resident-dj at drum’n’bass regular Jus’Fine Formation in Club Prive, in Tallinn, and hosting breaks show called Breiksipoliitika in Estonian national radio Raadio 2 101,6 mHz.
