Gilles Aiken, the Berlin DJ better known as Edward, makes shadowy club tracks with a surrealisticedge. He evolves his DJ sets with a sharp sense of groove but it's his cosmic streak that gives his music depth. Over the years this combination has made him a mainstay of the Giegling crew. Further labels he works with are Baby Fords Trelik, Pal and Fankfurt based “DieOrakel”.

Mix of the Month Winner October 2025 - Alan Heart

In 2006, when the borders of progressive house were starting to blur and music started melting into the digital sphere, Balance 010 arrived with almost monastic ambition.

Disc 2 is the heart of Balance 010, the warm midtempo arc that gives the entire three-disc structure its emotional weight. It rises slowly from ambient drift into soft breakbeats, glides through Cocteau Twins shimmer and Speedy J tension, and lands in that hypnotic space where Boards of Canada, Ellen Allien, Aphex Twin and Underworld all feel like parts of the same world. 

Critics consistently pointed to this disc as the most replayable, the most cinematic, the place where Jimmy’s instinct for mood and narrative became unmistakable. It moves without forcing momentum, deepens without darkening, and closes on a fourteen-minute Underworld remix that turns the whole project into a pilgrimage. 

If Balance 10 has a centre of gravity, Disc 2 is it.

Balance 010: Jimmy van M (Disc 2)

Skyfold is out now under my Elite Force guise. This one came from a place of wanting to make something genuinely uplifting. It leans into the wide eyed optimism I’ve always loved in artists like Underworld and Bicep while still carrying that emotional thread that runs through everything I make.

It’s a brighter and more hopeful take on the Elite Force sound. Dreamy synth cascades, rolling percussion, and a warm low end that feels like light breaking through.
