Spray enters the world, emerging with a mystically prophesied reissue from Dimension 23, the intended deliverance in 2020 a perfect 23 years after its original release in 1997. The duo, Rich and Julie, were pioneers of the LA rave scene, traversing the West Coast throughout the ‘90s - not to mention colluding with Sven Väth’s like-minded trailblazing Harthouse. The reiteration of this music today feels more relevant than ever; the compellingly raw and authentic energy desperately desired as we emerge back into club and festival spaces.

Formally released on Fuzzy Logik, The A1 “I.M.O.K. R.U.O.K.” was first written in a mere 30 minutes as a live jam and recorded straight to DAT; rough, ready and destined for the rave. Brace yourself for freaked abrasive textures that dip and soar in a sharp contrast to the rich rolling bassline, propelling the track forward into delicious repetition. Additionally, the militant rim-driven percussion and drums come locked and loaded, proper ammunition for any hot and heavy dancefloor.

Tying the anthem into further contemporary context comes a remix from Or:la, slowing the groove and shaking up the rhythm for a more sexy low-slung affair. BYO percussion and breaks, it draws upon the subtle sensual breathy vocals and delicate harmonic moments, adding a different kind of heat to the release.

Rounding out the record comes a B side blowout, originally unleashed on Harthouse, “12,000 Ravers” truly evokes the imagery laid out in its title. The rapturous outbreak takes no prisoners, with all the tried and tested crucial ingredients. The thundering kick unapologetically galloping over yet another sublime bassline, whilst breakbeats ricochet effortlessly to leave space for melodic nuance, swirling synths and soft-spirited arpeggiators. This six-minute rave hymn proves a powerful contribution to the overall release; setting the tone for Spray with an historical nod to our past and how it influences our future, the generational gap feeling like a mere blip in time.

10 artists make their PIFF Records debut with equally as many tracks on a groove-laden VA spanning all varieties of spaced-out house and techno.

Never afraid to vary their musical output, PIFF Records has previously released music spanning UKG, dub techno, and deep house. Over the course of 10 tracks, the label showcases artists who are equally unafraid to blur sonic boundaries. If the descriptors ‘techy’, ‘trancey’, and ‘proggy’ apply to tracks which match your taste, then this VA is bound to be right up your street.

Cybernet opens the VA with Ocean Echo, a sonic voyage complete with acid squelches and delay-drenched arpeggios. Laars expands on the acidic motif with a distorted 303 bassline in Infinity 6, landing in trance territory with elevated tempos and exhilarating sequenced plucks.

Tourman takes us back in time to the early ‘90s with Italo-infused I Love Models. Pumping chords and luscious pads drift over infectious drums and esoteric vocal splices. Conversely, Coaster Roller by Haand is an uplifting trance banger complete with a chugging bassline and ethereal soundscapes taken straight from the turn of the millennium Balearic coastline.

Label boss Liam Be makes his first release on PIFF Records with Do Ya, a mysterious and meditative progressive cut built around a haunting lead melody and incisive vocal stutters. Mick Jerome resurrects flavours from the early days of tech house on Let Me Tell You; one for those who like their drums fat and basslines fatter.

rounds comes through with jungle-influenced, breaks-oriented Tabaih. A soaring woodwind melody and eagle-screech samples invoke calm and reflection - perfect for a moment of calm in the midst of chaos. Llip brings back the irresistible grooves with the minimal house stepper Wobble Trouble, featuring swung drums and basslines designed to send limbs flying.

440Hz provides hybrid UKG flavours on Frequency Drawing, combining two-step drums with a gradually evolving FM bassline. Closing the VA with Here 4, Moodii merges late ‘90s trance vocals and synths with speed garage drums to create a spine-tingling anthem worthy of closing not just the VA but any set.

For their recent capsule collection in collaboration with Obey Clothing, Klasse Wrecks label owners Mr. Ho and Luca Lozano turn their hands to an EP entitled 'FREE TEKNO'. Inkeeping with the range's celebration of free spirited exploration and unbridled creativity the well seasoned and experienced production duo provide 4 tracks of various flavours.

The mood is a little darker and faster than usual KW fare and throws knowing glances to late 90s genres such as Tribal Techno and Acid Breaks. The resulting EP is a good reflection of two producers happily in their own lane, enjoying the journey that come alongside with making music and running a record label.
