I suppose the ultimate crux is that I came to terms with growing past and through a place of comfort.
 
Hoop Earring is a fantasy, one about spiritual enlightenment and realization. I think about Hoop Earring as a filter with which to look through - Hoop Earring is an island. A lot changed from when I initially started writing these songs and it all feels like it happened while I was in a faraway place. Hoop Earring is like ​The Younger Dryas of my ​emotional ​life.
 
In Janet Murray's, "Hamlet on the Holodek", she explains that fiction is a way to deal with everyday problems by making us be involved enough to care but detached enough to be able to retreat if the suffering is too much. I relate this to Hoop Earring in that it became somewhat of a coping mechanism.
 
I don't have much else to say, other than that I'm proud of the album and that I'm happy to share it.

Invited to contribute a track to Descendants Of The Deep's V5 iteration of their 'From Chicago To Detroit' series that's seen Vincent Floyd, Norm Talley, Gene Hunt, Gari Romalis and more pitch in on the previous episodes, Nicola dishes out a dulcet slab of piano-strewn house, sandwiched between a liquid bass tide, reverb-drenched synth stabs and shrill strings. This one's got both the carefree swing of a jazzy 4/4 melter and poignancy of an honest, inward-dipping deep house jaunt. Succulent.

"Producer, DJ and visual artist, Dreams, has become a standout voice in the Los Angeles electronic landscape. The following he’s amassed locally is due, in part, to his own imprint, Private Selection, who’s focus so far has been split between releasing music and throwing events. An ethos that runs through both the his music and parties is indebted in part to house and techno, but also industrial, resulting in a mutated take on dance life forms that is becoming increasingly recognizable in his own records and DJ sets.

Dreams’ first 12’, ‘Twisted Karma’, came out in 2015 via Private Selection. Most recently, he released a record which saw light through Greek Imprint Nous Disques, and now, Apron Records.
