✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I started DJing at DIY squat parties in Halle 17 years ago. That shaped how I play: groove-driven but open to disruption, tension, and contrast. I’m drawn to Post-Punk, Electro, and New Wave’s rough edges, but also to the hypnotic structures of techno and house that allow you to stretch time.
I like artists who push emotional weight into their sets without relying on obvious formulas—who build a world where tracks that feel slightly wrong on their own suddenly make perfect sense.

✔️ What makes good “afterhour”?

A good afterhour isn’t just about playing slower or deeper in my opinion—it’s about shifting the focus. It’s where the night dissolves into something freer, where you can take risks, build tension, create strange moments that wouldn’t work at peak time.

For me, afterhours should feel fluid and unpredictable, and that’s what my track choices reflect. Some afterhours lean into warm, hypnotic grooves that pull people into a trance, others need sharp turns—unexpected elements that snap you out of autopilot. It depends on the space, the crowd, and the energy left in the room. But whatever the approach, a good afterhour should feel earned, not just like an endless loop.

✔️ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I wanted the set to show different sides of what an afterhour can be—not just one mood stretched for hours, but the shifts, the tension, the looseness. It moved between hypnotic and high-energy, deep and disorienting, groove-heavy and abstract. Some tracks feel like a soft landing, others like a glitch in the matrix. Would I change anything? Probably. But afterhours aren’t about perfection—they’re about creating something that exists only in that moment. The best ones leave you unsure whether you've been dancing for 30 minutes or three hours. That’s the feeling I always try to create.

MiZi MuZiK kicks off its catalog with a smashing all-female extravaganza. For MiZi TaPeS 001, Mira and Mila Stern present a floor-focused four-tracker comprising exclusively of collaborations with some of their closest friends: MANTi, Britta Arnold, and Niki Sadeki. Join us for a synth-heavy soirée
driven by a love for dancefloor hypnotism in all its iterations. 

Mira and LA-based DJ and producer MANTi open MiZi’s discography with a radiant orchestra of swirling, bending, and arcing sawtooth chords. ‘Distance’ bridges the gap between their aesthetics, beautifully reimagining MANTi’s morphing melodics in the framework of Mira’s groovy, slow-burning
hypnotism. 

On ‘Refract Glow,’ Mila Stern and New York-based DJ and producer Niki Sadeki fuse Niki’s dreamy, glinting Electronica with Mila’s biting edge. Their collaboration emerges darkly anthemic, with powerful, compact drum structures and pitch-bent salvos of incandescent synths that cut through the rolling gloom like blinding rays of light across a darkening sky.

‘Cotton Brain’ conjures its namesake state of enveloping dancefloor abandon. A stripped and shoegazy groove, smatterings of whiplash drum hits, and an eerie field of spaced-out arps pulse across a quivering atmospheric void. With ‘Cotton Brain,’ Mira and Kater resident Britta Arnold strip away distractions until all that remains is a shuddering core of pure dancefloor energy. 

Finally, Mila Stern and Mira artfully channel their ephemeral overlap into a dark, expansive, and compellingly catchy collaboration. Set to a rumbling beat, blippy percussion, and growling fields of saws, ‘The Ghost Between Us’ gradually builds and morphs, erupting into mangled sweeps and biting synth figures that infuse its shadowy mesmerism with powerful, spaced-out funkiness. 

MiZi TaPeS 001 brings together five unique aesthetics to deliver four iterations of the sounds closest to our hearts with some of the people we most admire. Join us as we embark to shine a light on the sounds we love, no matter how big or small.
