I am a professor of Music informatics and Computing at Indiana University, Bloomington. I began composing and performing in 2006 after buying my first synth, a Roland Fantom-XA. As a child I loved music but was told I had no aptitude for it. Moral: Ignore those jerks and just play!

Since 2006 I have composed and performed over 70 indie albums, all released at one time or another on my websites, and some picked up at places like Earth Mantra records. The point is that music is my passion (along with analog computing :) and I record an album a month, typically three or four songs a weeks that feed into them.

In 2012 I have enjoyed performing on toy pianos, the OP-1 and OPlab, and the Sonuus pitch-to-MIDI converters. A very belated revelation is that my OP-1 can pack my tpy pianos, synths, etc. into patches by sampling. What a GREAT tool the OP-1 is, and how under-rated many people think it is. That is usually because they don't think "outside the box" for the ways that sampling makes it so flexible. Before you think I am critical of others, remember I had mine for over a year before I realized how much I could do withe the OP-1 and sampling. Duh. :(

My music is mostly thematic and orchestral, but dips into Latino, Indian and the occasional rock shred. I am the pioneer of audio-MIDI feedback (for which I was endorsed by the Sonuus company—check out their artists' links). Feedback music is NOT easy to listen to at first play (it has atonalities that are random), but will grow on many people after a few listens. My other music is usually "pretty" so listen to that if you want something that is "inside the box." I recommend "To Be a Crane" for example.
