Sept 2020 - best new indie tracks

Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Thursday morning (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 28th September: from around midday on Friday you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch379

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud GO tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks that have been previously submitted and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Cold Shoulders was written in response to the constant stream of news surrounding environmental destruction and in the song I call out the indifference we all have towards it in some way. The line "only you can save the world" is aimed at those in power able to make a change but also to every person on the planet

Icecapades is turning ten this month! An incredible feat for our small Manchester label eternally operating within tight constraints. I’d originally planned a run of anniversary shows to celebrate reaching our decade, but they've obviously now been shelved for the foreseeable future. In it’s place though, is this absolute monster compilation featuring Twenty Eight of our favourite artists from the last decade and beyond. I'm really proud of all of the releases that we've been involved in over the past few years, and this comp stays true to our to ethos of quality over quantity.

Proceeds from this digi only release are going to safety 4 sisters, a Manchester based charity who do good work with refugee women encountering domestic abuse, legal fees etc.. Huge thanks to everyone who’s contributed to this project, please keep supporting and here's to the next ten years!
