Phil Kieran has teamed up with absolute legend Green Velvet again to create a track which should be used as part of techno education called Birds & Bees.

An incessant bassline and drum programming throbs all the way through it, sounding so fresh but with all the familiarities of classic techno sprinkled in with Green Velvet's magic.

The vocal sounds like it could be from the devil tempting you somewhere you know you shouldn't go but it just feels so right.

Phil Kieran & Green Velvet - Birds & Bees (Marc Houle Remix)

These are my personal favorite tracks of the last months! Have been smashing these at all my gigs and they especially Surrender means a lot to me. Reminds me of being on the other side of the world on the Eclipse gathering which was an almost spiritual experience! Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did making and playing them :)

Every great album needs a solid remix EP! That’s what Niconé thought to himself after the recent release of his critically acclaimed ‘Let Love Begin’ longplayer. Thus he invited friends and artists he admires alike to reinterpret some of the highlights of the album. The results are as versatile as they are stunning.	 

Big-room piano work-out ‘Burnhain’ gets the treatment by three heavyweights of the scene. England’s Ejeca has been causing quite a stir with his signature mix of classic Jersey house and UK bass elements. Here, he turns in a tasteful mix of high-pitched vocals, which focuses on dub chords rather than the original’s piano melody. Teenage Mutants opts for the no nonsense approach as he delivers a straight house banger of driving hats and a bass-line to die for, while Mat.Joe chop up the piano hook and loop it over a new percussive skeleton. 	

SIS’s remix of ‘Querido’ is an epic twelve minute long journey that takes the original’s vocals into darker, drugged-out territories. Psychedelic! Similarly, Gunjah goes all out on his dramatic synth interpretation of ‘Let Love Begin’, which seems made with Ibiza closing parties in mind. Rampue’s version of ‘Candelaria’ is, in contrast, crafted for dark winter days as lots of melancholia runs through the veins of the track. Of course, Niconé was keen to turn in a remix himself and enlisted his good friend Philip Bader to give him a hand. The resulting reinterpretation of ‘Candelaria’ is an out-and-out tech house monster made for the peaktime.

Electric Deluxe are pleased to announce another signature EP-tool package from its newest affiliate Hans Bouffmyhre: Hypnosis EP marking the Glaswegian’s label debut in excellent fashion.

At just 24 years old, the Paisley man and self-proclaimed techno obsessive has already amassed an impressive amount of records for several formidable labels including Perc Trax, Synewave and 8 Sided Dice. Hans—real name Stephen Gorrie—started out like most music fanatics: promoting his own parties and DJing in his hometown. Production naturally ensued and in 2008 Sleaze the label was born. Today Gorrie’s humble enterprise has flourished into an established and globetrotting empire, complete with mastering and booking agency and sibling label, Smut. Erstwhile Gorrie’s own works over the years have been garnering interest from some of the scene’s biggest players.

For Electric Deluxe Hans Bouffmyhre turns in three pieces of deep and driving techno, taking his minimalistic tendencies down much darker, surging trajectories. Amply titled lead track “Hypnosis” roves over a pounding kick drum and classic ride sample that has already been whipping floors into a frenzy. Here both the beat and its beatless swirling counterpart have been supplied as tools for the digital DJs to get creative with. “Planetoid” is even more ominous—a veritably evil techno serpent, coiled and rattling, ready to strike. “Therapy” concludes in a “straight up, no nonsense” fashion, says Gorrie—and we are more than inclined to agree. This one’s for the first-pumpers.

Nightlife’s International treasure, Heidi is back with the second release on her label project, this time presenting ‘Jackathon Jams feat. Alexis Raphael & Marc Houle’. With bubbling UK talent, Alexis Raphael at the helm and a remix by Items and Things label boss Marc Houle, this is a nifty little collection of club weapons with that all-important Jackathon swagger.

Heidi started her Jackathon Jams imprint earlier this year, bringing Miss Kittin, Maya Jane Coles and tINI together in one tidy package and is next championing Alexis Raphael, one of London’s favourite DJ/Promoters. With a handful of sensational tracks under his belt (on Hot Creations and Lower East) and running one of London’s most popular club nights Crèche, it’s no wonder Alexis has caught the attention of Heidi.

Delivering two special productions for the imprint’s sophomore release, both tracks carry a nod to retro house with some offbeat modern flavour. A-side ‘Brickwall’ kicks off with sauntering percussion and a rubbery bassline soon to be invaded by wonky synths and FX along with a central vocal line. Second original ‘You Can Do It’ follows in a similar vein with another distinctive spoken male vocal entering the pulse of the rough-edged, jacking groove.

A superb Marc Houle remix rounds off the package as the Berlin pioneer takes ‘Brickwall’ and bestows his own stripped back and expansive approach, warping the vocal to form a barely recognisable framework then unleashing darkly seductive chimes, building the drama with big beats and abstract melodies.
