I alternate my shows between digging through vinyl classics (pre-2008) of my vast collection and playing more modern tunes from my digital decks. Either way, it'll always be high quality, no-nonsense, Drum & Bass!

For this edition I wanted to go for more techy rollers, and ended up playing 2 hours and 45 minutes, as the next show was cancelled. It was a great flow with long mixovers and combinations, just like I love. And it was nice to play a bit extra after having missed the last few editions of the show! Enjoy.

Known for his past role as the head of Full Force Recordings, Chook’s influence in the electronic and Drum & Bass scenes is undisputed. With this remix, he returns to showcase his forward-thinking approach to production. Chook expertly fuses Claudine Muno’s heartfelt vocals with energetic basslines and progressive house rhythms, bringing a fresh dancefloor dimension to the original.

I've never made it a secret of being a long-term fan of the raw beats, hard breaks and rave stabs from the Biotic and Outlook camp, and with B-Key's work in particular. And after all these years, I've finally done a full B-Key mix with all the early releases I had bought back in the days, doing an extra half hour to play all of them! I even managed to find my fan picture with him from when he played in Amsterdam in 2003 (with a very young Squee!) which is probably from one of my few fanboi moments in DnB. This mix focuses on the 1999-2004 period, and doesn't contain his later work on Freak and more recently on Scientific wax, but all the best stuff is in this period anyway if you ask me. Enjoy!

This was a shorter show due to being in the week where Europe has already switched back from DST but the Americas haven't yet, so we meet in the middle and both shorten our slot by 30 minutes. I had some busy week(s) prior and not really made up my mind what to play, so when it doubt, play Bad company, right? For this digital show I wanted to play a couple more newer Critical bits that I had bought but didn't get to play in my last digital show, and besides that I wanted to focus on more harder rollers with the new remasters of the Broken Silence LP from Mortlock (Vicious Circle) and Universal Project. The first half hour goes a bit more into a Critical direction but then the rest goes into a relentless flow - I was really enjoying the mix! Unfortunately there's a glitch around 65:30 as the stream dropped and I had to glue the mix from the recording, and one tune in between went missing except that you can hear it starting to get mixed into Squadron.

Last year I ended with an epic Teebee XXL special on the second day of Christmas, but this year I'll be away so this was the last show of the year. I wanted to do something a bit special nonetheless, and I finally got around doing a Photek special! All vinyls, lots of classic precious Photek tunes, for two full hours spanning the whole of 1994-2004 (though the majority from his golden age in the 90ies of course). An awesome show with awesome chatroom support. And hey, it made sense (as Steffi pointed out); it's Rupert the red-nose reindeer season! ;-) Enjoy and have a good xmas & NYE everyone.

Following an impressive debut release for Critical’s talent brewing sub-label Binary in 2024, SMG steps up in uncompromising mood, with the three-track ‘Cloaked’ EP.

The title track draws you in with the eeriest of atmospherics before collapsing into a sharp, stepping groove that swoons and stretches from the despicably rough to the satisfyingly smooth.

‘Suku’ brings the cinematics - melding mystical, dreamy moods and foreboding spoken-word samples with a silky sub-bassline that gently twists and growls its way through endless sonic textures.

‘Halogator’ takes things harder, with SMG linking with fellow Critical producer Waeys to close the EP with a punishing crunch, taking things nasty with a snarling, bickering bassline and splashing drums.

Originally from Amsterdam, and now based in Cambridge UK, Dr. Squee has been into DnB since before the turn of the century and DJing for more than two decades. Long time resident DJ on DnB radio Jungletrain.net, currently on a bi-weekly Tuesday evening schedule (21:00-23:00 UK time).
