For this digital show I wanted to play a couple more newer Critical bits that I had bought but didn't get to play in my last digital show, and besides that I wanted to focus on more harder rollers with the new remasters of the Broken Silence LP from Mortlock (Vicious Circle) and Universal Project. The first half hour goes a bit more into a Critical direction but then the rest goes into a relentless flow - I was really enjoying the mix! Unfortunately there's a glitch around 65:30 as the stream dropped and I had to glue the mix from the recording, and one tune in between went missing except that you can hear it starting to get mixed into Squadron.

Last year I ended with an epic Teebee XXL special on the second day of Christmas, but this year I'll be away so this was the last show of the year. I wanted to do something a bit special nonetheless, and I finally got around doing a Photek special! All vinyls, lots of classic precious Photek tunes, for two full hours spanning the whole of 1994-2004 (though the majority from his golden age in the 90ies of course). An awesome show with awesome chatroom support. And hey, it made sense (as Steffi pointed out); it's Rupert the red-nose reindeer season! ;-) Enjoy and have a good xmas & NYE everyone.

It had been a while since I dived through the Wormhole, and I felt it was about time to do another Neurofunk classics vinyl set. Combining the very start and inception of it around 1998/1999 as well as the 2004~2006 re-interpretation of it as Noisia and Phace burst onto the scene. The difference between Neurofunk and Techstep, Techy and Technoid wasn't very clear in the early days. I basically selected the vinyls that to me had a lot of funk in them (in my opinion 'Funktion' for example is Neurofunk in retrospect rather than Techstep). It's actually this funk that I miss in modern day Neurofunk, so I hope this retrospective will make you enjoy and move as it did for me!

2025-01-21 Punting on the Cam (This is Neurofunk)

Unfortunately I had to last-minute cancel the show two weeks ago because of a sudden hardware failure in my studio machine. I managed to get it up and running, and perhaps this will be the last show it will have streamed for after 15 years of service! (A new machine is ordered and on the way).

For this edition I wanted to focus on a bunch of tunes I hadn't played yet or hadn't played much yet, it was a digital show, and a bit of an 'eclectic' journey starting from dark industrial/techno influences with Raiden and Kemal tunes, going to some heavier Blackout NL modern neuro and then to some deeper tunes and some heavy rollers spliced in between all of these. I certainly enjoyed this journey and I hope you also will!

After the Neurofunk show from four weeks ago, I figured it would be good to focus on what I always considered 'Technoid' DnB back in the day. The lines are blurry between Neurofunk, Technoid, and Techstep. For me, Technoid is less funk, more two-step beats, nasty melodic stabs and riffs, and more techno-like percussion. Surely some of the tracks in this mix could be considered Techstep as well, especially the Usual Suspect ones. It seems that a few years later (this was the view in 2001~2003 I'd say), the term 'Technoid' was more applied to the heavier techno-influenced stuff like the OffKey label and Proket/Prode tunes, for example. For me however, it will always be what this mix is about, with the heavy influence from Kemal & Rob Data, Stakka & Skynet, early BSE, Sinthetix, some C4C, etc! I really enjoyed this show, and I hope you have too.

This show was only one hour because of the DST mismatch between Europe and the US/Canada. Usually we split the slots halfway but I had a very busy weekend so preferred to just do a shorter show instead. However, I hope I didn't compromise because I managed to squeeze 32 tunes in the one hour show! Started off with 2 1/2 tune (about the first 7 minutes) with some 140 BPM bits because I really wanted to play that I Am Legion (with the Foreign Beggars on the vocals) remix by Visages. The rest of the journey was from glitchy to tech and quite a lot of tunes with vocals! Also quite a few tunes by the courtesy of @blackoutmusicnl - and a lot of bits of the Critical label. A logical next show after my Neurofunk and Technoid specials would be to do a Techstep special! However, I've already done several more pure Techstep shows in the last few years, so I decided to focus on only vinyls that were released in 1997 - including the seminal Torque LP, the most defining Techstep album if you ask me. I don't think everything in this mix could necessarily be classified Techstep, but it's close enough. I really enjoyed this exploration and mix of contemporary tunes! I hope you also will.

After getting some harder tunes in my inbox that I was digging, I figured it was time for a harder full throttle neuro mix - I bought a bunch of Finalfix, Agressor Bunx and Myselor tunes I didn't have yet and had a two hour uncompromising show! The first few tracks worked out a little less good than I had liked but after that it absolutely took off.. and the recording is now in 256kbit, just as Jungletrain is streaming at 256k now!

Next show will be in two weeks time and will be a classic vinyl show again! It'll be on Tuesday April 29th, usual time, usual place, usual no-nonsense prescription of DnB! Hi,ive been djing for around 25 years now & played out abit but only as a hobby really,also started up an internet radio station with a mate called Onlyoldskool radio,which has been running for a few years now & doing very well,with a number of our djs playing out regularly,also we have been very lucky to have able to host a room at dreamscape a couple of times,with a big thanks to Jim Tang & the dreamscape crew,my favorite years are from 89-92,so im always playing stuff from around these years,with the odd ventures into 93,ranging from acid house,breaks,techno,oldskool house,ive now started running a internet radio station called Rokagroove radio after abit of underhanded buisness regards to onlyoldskool radio whilst i was paying for it & had others pushing there way in even though id been running it for a few years successfully,so decided to part company & go my own seperate ways,im on the look out for new oldskool djs playing on vinyl,with the years specializing from 88-94,ranging from acid house to oldskool house,oldskool techno,oldskool hardcore,breakbeat,jungle techno etc.
