The second installment of the series comes from Romphea ( @rompheamusic ), dj, producer and 1/3 of FERMA label curators, compiling a music selection of older favourites and new tracks to cast all that recent darkness away.

A1 is entitled "Atmospheres" from the ever-talented Michigan producer JTC aka Tadd Mullinix [Bopside/Nation/Ghostly]. A2, entitled "Arreskni" comes from newer Chilean artists MU-GA, a track we released in digital format last year from their debut EP. Finishing off the A-side is Italian super-duo SONS OF TRADERS [SOT/Frigio/Black Lodge] aka Tans X Mike Tansella Jr. with the acidic cut "Indianapolis" also released last year by BL on tape and digitally from their first full length album entitled "Crollo Nervoso". Side B blasts off with the early Chicago house inspired track "Passion" by prolific Dresden producer SNEAKER [Uncanny Valley/Rat Life/Frigio]. Closing off the comp is a dirty warehouse banger/burner by e-spirit, a new alias from LA producer DELIVERY [LA Club Resource/Valcrond Video.

"Weapons of the weak is a mysterious tribute to fallen warriors from the future. It revolves around the idea of everyday resistance in the face of hopelessness, made by common people, using the means available to them.

'Extinct' is a blurred, obscure warning that culminates with the forecast of extinction. Despite the evident hopelessness that this warning brings, it is accompanied by an homage to those too weak to change the course of events, but that nevertheless tried. 'Picking quarrels and provoking trouble' is the crime that citizen journalist Zhang Zhan was accused of when reporting on the Wuhan outbreak. Citizen journalists were one of the sources of uncensored information during the outbreak in China. She was convicted to four years in prison, where she remains as of 2022. 'Murderous femmes' is an homage to survivors of partner violence. It reflects a profound disappointment in a system that often fails to protect women. It is inspired by the stories of women who fought back and killed their long-time abuser, with some ending in prison. 'Alexander Navalny' samples moments of the arrest of the former Russian politician who stepped into the spotlight by reporting on corruption in Russia. After a failed murder attempt during a flight, and returning to Russia, he was arrested. As of 2022, Alexander Navalny remains in prison. 'Luanda leaks' twists samples of one interview of the hacker Rui Pinto. Rui Pinto released several documents that contained evidence that Isabel dos Santos, once Africa's wealthiest woman, has profited from two decades of corruption in Angola. These documents also showed that this would not be possible without the aid of western firms and individuals. Despite being a resource-rich country, more than half of Angola's population still lives below the poverty line."

From the mind of Sam Lowry aka Manasyt (from Bunker records) comes one of the weirdest releases so far. The ultimate molochial psychosis journey into electronic soundtrack ambient or whatever you want to call it. Think the ambient works of Aphex Twin + Goblin meets Alec Empire, a spoon of Morricone and go on a roundabout after that and we are close to describing this album.

Following up on 2022's "Allegories", Insurgency continues its music curation series with "Crimes of the 20th Century". The compilation explores untraditional portrayals of violence and examines relations between industrial music and perceptions of cruelty. The label and its invited musicians intend to oppose the weaponized usage of music by extremist groups; instead, "Crimes of the 20th Century" invites listeners to reflect on collective responsibility for modern atrocity — as it is exhibited by a roster of contemporary experimental artists — within historical and psychological contexts.

Actualmente vivimos en una época de sobreexplotación de la información que, en el caso de la música electrónica, afecta a la mayoría de los lanzamientos que se publican, ya que pasan totalmente desapercibidos debido a la enorme oferta existente, sin embargo, aquellos lanzamientos que se recuperan décadas después de haber sido creados o editados oficialmente, son especialmente venerados por una gran parte del público que anhela que se abran nuevos horizontes hacia las reediciones y la recuperación de material histórico.

El sello valenciano Fill-Lex Records firma un doble álbum de Andrew Lagowski, productor británico que lleva más de 40 años en activo, aunque el primer trabajo editado como Lagowski data de 1988. Posteriormente amplió su actividad artística en otros frentes y bajo otros alias como Legion, S.E.T.I., Clans of the Alphane Moon y Project Ghost, y también fue miembro de la banda de culto Nagamatzu. Los primeros trabajos de Lagowski se centraron en la música experimental e industrial, con álbumes como "Nadir" y "Die Datenschleuder" de Legion, en los que mostraba su interés por explorar fuentes de sonido y técnicas de producción poco convencionales.

A principios de los 90, Lagowski empezó a orientarse hacia un sonido más tecno, publicando una influyente serie de singles de 12" en el sello Chromium Industries. Esto ayudó a establecer a Lagowski como una figura clave en las escenas del techno y la música electrónica. Su producción musical ha seguido evolucionando y expandiéndose a lo largo de los años, con lanzamientos recientes como "Secrets of Numbers" y "Sleep Environments for Interplanetary Travel" de S.E.T.I. que muestran su continua experimentación con el sonido y las técnicas de producción, sin embargo, debemos volver a sus primeros días para hablar del álbum presentado por Fill-Lex Records.

Teratology (named after the study of the causes and patterns of abnormal development) is a collection of hard, driving tunes that was originally self-released on CDR in 2003. The album is a collection of dark and atmospheric prototype and original techno tracks, featuring heavy use of synthesizers, samplers and digital effects, and its bleak and haunting soundscape reflects this theme.

‘Teratology’ is notable for its use of cutting-edge electronic production techniques at the time, such as convolution sample synthesis and time stretching (bear in mind that these tracks were recorded between 1989-1992). Lagowski's use of unconventional sound sources and processing techniques helped to push the boundaries of electronic music and influenced many artists in the genre.

The album is also noteworthy for its integration of industrial and ambient music elements, which was not a common practice in techno at the time. This blending of genres and sounds helped to create a unique and innovative sonic landscape that has since become a hallmark of electronic music.

Understandably, 'Teratology' is a landmark album in the history of UK electronic music, representing a significant step forward in the evolution of techno and influencing many artists in the genre to explore new sonic territory. So it is a fitting testament that Fill-Lex Records have brought this study of warped recording methods back under the microscope, in the form of this double pressing, collecting the tunes together for the first time on vinyl.

In 2018 in Bogotá, producer Halb Maschine and artist Ela Vann joined forces to bring Dot Drama to life. After several years of collaboration, they present their EP "Surcos" on Pildoras Tapes. The EP features 6 tracks that explore the sounds of Synthwave, incorporating distorted vocals, classic drum machines, and saxophones that evoke the industrial sound of the 1980s.

We are pleased to introduce these types of releases that delve into different genres of electronic music. That's why we decided to invite Filmmaker, Spinal, Tarqvino, and Panama Papers for the B-side of the tape, creating new versions more focused on the dance floor.
