St. Paul offers a striking word that all of us will stand before the judgment seat of Christ at the end of our lives. But you and I are given the grace to know and love Christ to the point that His judgment isn’t something to fear.  We are ceed to live a life in which the Father can see Christ radiating within us. So let us desire to approach with confidence a life of unity with God. “

We hear in the Gospel this week how many of Jesus’ disciples left Him and no longer followed Him. Our faith in the Lord is often tested, but in His mercy, Jesus continues to call us into friendship with Him. In our pray life and life of charity, may we come to be convinced, like St. Peter was, that Jesus is the Holy One of God.

This week we are reminded of the beauty and power of redemptive suffering. By the Lord’s own death on the cross we are invited to be united to Him in all things, including our suffering. We ask the Lord for the grace to name our crosses in life and to carry them in great faith and hope so as to experience new life through them.

This week we are encouraged by the presence of the Holy Spirit’s gift of Wisdom in our lives. The readings for Mass remind us of God’s desire to be able to see and think like He does. Wisdom allows us to ask Jesus the tough question regarding our purpose and vocation in life. It also allows us to seek humility and radical trust like a little child. May we ever be aware of the prompting of the Spirit’s gift of Wisdom in our lives.

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time - “The Gift of Divine Wisdom”

Within Christianity the word “salvation” is used in a multitude of ways. How does one gain eternal life? Works? Faith? Within the Gospel for this weekend, it seems Jesus is inviting us to see salvation in its truest form; that of a healing! The man that approaches Jesus is invited to be healed of his attachments and so to enter into salvation. May we pray for the grace to allow Jesus to save us and so daily invite Him to change us everyday to become more like Him.

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time - “What must I do to gain eternal life?”

When Jesus restores the sight of Bartimaus in the Gospel, He does so much more than resolve a physical impediment. The blind man calls Jesus the Son of David, which was a title for the Messiah who would not only save the world from sin, but also establish the Kingdom of God. We seek to be members of that Kingdom and so allow Jesus to heal and transform all aspects of our lives. Thy Kingdom come, oh Lord. Thy Will be done!
