Gnosticism survived in a 3.century monastery on the northeast slope of the hills of Maya. The text read by priestess Gugl about Ialdabaoth and the creation of thought and insight, is from Apocryphon Ioannis, one of the dead sea scrolls found at Nag Hammadi. Ialdabaoth is of course the demiurge, the technical creator, some name him the fool creator, that somehow botched up creation, and then later tried to drown everyone, but missed out on that too. Gabriel was one of the angels guarding Eden who lost their job when mankind ate from the tree of knowledge.
