But Claptone takes the enigma game to the next level—not only does he flit around in a gold, pointy bird mask straight out of G-Force: Guardians of Space, he also claims to embed an entire "universe of secrets" into his sounds. Not sure what that means... maybe spectogram images a la Aphex Twin? Also, in an interview from earlier last year, he said certifiably batshit stuff like, “Over the years I’ve learned to affect every being on earth and to synchronize the noises and sounds (they produce). With my magic wand I now bring to life a universal orchestra and direct the world’s unique soundtrack.” Which is… awesome?" (Vice Thump) 

Actually, we think it’d be pretty chill if he took the reigns on the “the world’s unique soundtrack” and made it sound a little more like this velvety, floor-shaking, party-starting, spooky, hypnotic house track GHOST he delivered us on the back of a singing Alec Ounsworth from Indie Rock Band CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH. 
More house magic included on track 2 UNITED. Feed the bird.

Back with another serious heavy hitter, Crosstown Rebels presents the latest from dream team Psychemagik, ‘Black Noir Schwarz’ ­ their first original production not to be self­released and already championed by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. A club weapon of psychedelically charged, electro­tinged epic proportions, the original is driven by the monster wonky bassline, dark and sultry vocal (from Renata De Sutter aka Renegade) and freaky synths. Spooky keys and chords, and grinding distorted bass bring the track to even murkier depths. Featuring remixes by the legend that is Tensnake and Minéo, make no mistake ‘Black Noir Schwarz’ is set to destroy all dancefloors in its wake.
UK dance music heroes, avid vinyl collectors and masters of the re­edit, Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney aka Psychemagik first entered the public consciousness with their supreme, balearic pop and 12” disco edits. Tensnake needs little introduction. A household name since his dancefloor smash ‘Coma Cat’ on Permanent Vacation, the Hamburg born DJ and producer Marco Niemerski has since been in ever­increasing demand. His music effortlessly transcends genres and his forthcoming debut album ‘Glow’ is set to cement his reputation as a major talent. For Crosstown Rebels, Tensnake delivers a full­bodied and rolling ‘Black, Noir...’ rework.

Minéo has been buried away in the studio for the past couple of years working on music for his new solo project. With his latest release ‘Turn Out The Lights’ flying high on Hot Creations, Mineo arrives on Crosstown Rebels and turns in a totally fresh take on ‘Black Noir Schwarz’, revelling in a P­funk style groove and filtered vox.

We're honouring another legend on board this month. It's the artist that made 'A Thousand Nights', 'Nightcolors' and so many other recognisable anthems and whether it's Time Warp or Studio 80, he'll rock the hell out of it. This month's SEKOIA Podcast is by Gregor Tresher. 

His sets often differ from his productions, that tend to be a bit more on the deeper side. Playing mostly prime time spots at his gigs, that doesn't really come as a surprise. But for this podcast, we asked Gregor to take a step back and go deep. You can read more about this difference between producing and playing in the interview printed in DJ Mag, released today. "Here's my mix for the SEKOIA podcast series including some of my current favorite tracks and also a couple of gems that you might not have heard for some time. I tried to create a little rise and fall as I would do in a club-set, but kept it on a more deep and moody level this time - to make it enjoyable for a nighttime car-ride or listening on headphones. If it’s organic, earthy, down-tempo, world music that peaks your fancy, ST53 is a storyteller for you to keep an eye out for. 

ST53 is the latest project to be released in 2020 by creative entrepreneur Stephen Fryer.

Stephen was previously known for co-owning the Record Label 'Inward Records' releasing music from incredible artists such as: The Soul Brothers, Double Touch, Raw Main, Timboletti, Sparrow & Barbossa, Pippi Ciez & many more. Including loving support from popular electronic music channels such as trdmsk, electronic groove, sweet music, closing sounds.

Back in Stephen's early 20's he was known globally for his artist project 'Steve Fryer', where he was signed to Blacksoul Music, featuring on Hed Kandi Albums & BBC Introducing. Notoriously known for his innovative productions, track selection and hardworking creativeness behind the decks, as he firmly established himself as a global success, making chart topping hit's week in week out. Pioneering a unique twist within the Deep House music boom between 2011-2014. Owning Birmingham’s award winning event night ‘K/SS’ (Keep It Sexy & Sophisticated) on a weekly basis. DJ’ing internationally in 14+ cities worldwide, collating over 1 million+ streams along his journey. 

As time passed by Stephen found him-self fighting between a promising career at Jaguar Land Rover and a promising career as a music artist. In mid 2015 after maturing as an artist, Stephen found himself being disconnected with his 'Steve Fryer' music project he had originally created. Amongst that emotion and his external environmental influences, Stephen had put his music production career aside to focus on his journey as an Electrical Engineer. 

Even though Stephen had put his music productions on hold, whilst exploring a new signature sound, he still fronted his event nights in Birmingham, playing an array of music from Funk. Indie, Disco & Vocal House. Along with launching a record label alongside co-founder Pippi Ciez.

Stephen was brought up surrounding a variety of eclectic sounds. Funk, Soul, 70’s, 80’s, R&B, Indie, and Electro House were always blasting upon his iPod or Stereo Speaker. His love for music could even be expressed by the cassettes he used to record each and every Sunday for hours upon end as a child, waiting for each individual track to start and stop as he presses the record button on and off, trying to not capture the radio hosts voice.

By day/night, Stephen is a serial entrepreneur, owning a Property Management Company, Marketing Consultancy & Business Mentorship Program. By night/day, he likes to let loose, dance around, and meet likeminded creative souls <3

As the COVID-19 pandemic strikes, and external distractions dissipated, Stephen has reconnected with his love for mixing music, finally being able to display a signature sound he had grown extremely close to over the past 5 years, turning his consumer habits into an influencer of a beautiful organic healing sounds, providing respect and gratitude to the artists who has influenced him over time.
