Few people bring a truly original sound to house music. At a relatively young age, Hamburgs Martin Stimming did just that, demonstrating a sophisticated yet accessible sound that is beyond his years.

Two years after hooking up with Solomuns Diynamic Music, his 2008 breakthrough hit Una Pena made the electronic world sit up and take notice, and before long acclaimed labels like Freerange, liebe*detail, Buzzin´ Fly, Green and Poker Flat were snapping up his work. 2009 saw him release his immaculate debut album Reflections to great acclaim, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting new producers of his generation. 

His second album, Liquorice, eschews the normal kick-clap/snare template by and large to explore more interesting and progressive territories, but always with that trademark magpie-like sense of texture, emotion and discovery. 

His productions are filled with a multitude of his own unique, charismatic field recordings, and he never uses the same sample more than once. 

2010 saw him pick up an award for Best Newcomer at the Ibiza DJ Awards, following on from his live show (Stimming does not DJ) stunning the crowds at the islands legendary Pacha, and the finest danceries around the world Πfrom Berlins Panoramabar to Sao Paulo´s D-Edge, Brussels Fuse, London´s fabric and Paris Rex, and plenty more beyond. 

Remixes for the likes of Sascha Funke, Claude VonStroke, Deadmau5, Stephan Bodzin and Tom Novy to name but a few have further spread his influence amongst the discerning house and tech community, and cemented his reputation as one of the scene´s most exceptional producers.

Clearly, Martin Stimming is a precious talent indeed. But then again, not everyone loves liquorice...

“Every artist I respect takes the influences that have shaped who they are and transforms them into the media they control.” Such is the case with Steve Melvage. He continues to utilize the influences he's surrounded by to bring a replete story to the dance floor. Born and raised on the North side of Chicago, Melvage first started his dj career at the age of 11. Heavily inspired by the mix shows on WBMX Steve decided that the turntables would be his mark of expression. “Growing up in Chicago was the best education anyone could ever get djing. People here care about your “blends”, your selection, and your originality. If you can play here you can play anywhere.” Grabbing his own radio show and first residency at the age of 16 Melvage learned to work a room for 6 hours at a time. It was during this brief stint on the East Coast that he was exposed to Dancehall, Industrial, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop etc. “My heart has always been HOUSE but learning to blend and manipulate other styles of music made me a better DJ.”

Returning to Chicago Steve gravitated towards the “chunky but not cheesy” records coming out of Chicago, New York, and Europe. Melvage credits sharing the decks with DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, Justin Long, DJ Deeon, E Smoove, Luke Soloman, James Curd, and Mark Grant; as well as having a residency with JT Donaldson, Tim Shumaker and Diz for being instrumental in elevating his skill set and establishing his sound as unique. “You can learn a lot from playing with incredible DJ's. I've always felt that when you step up to the decks it's like a blank canvas. From there it's a control and release story you create with your crowd.” Steve has worked at many record stores, including an 8 year stint at famed South side Hot Jams Records. 

After years of residencies at Betty's, Spy Bar, Mercury, and Lava Lounge to name a few, Steve teamed up with Brian Heath to form “Beatgiants.” The idea was to conjoin Heath's raw aggressiveness with Steve's passion for four on the floor, disco influenced, track manipulation precision. Together they delivered their “push and pull” energy to such venues as Smartbar, Darkroom, LAVA, Zentra, and Green Dolphin. Recently Melvage and Heath operate under the moniker First Time In Tokyo and changed the game with esteemed nights GUERILLA COUTURE and ACID ONE. “The idea was to try to bring something original to Chicago nightlife and just have a great time with our friends, who happen to be amazing artists.” With Heath, Steve has recorded the highly applauded “Rocks in My Pocket” on Greenskeepers Music as well as “Drowsy” on Alphabet Music.

The future holds solo projects from Melvage as well as the soon to be released “Summers In Mississippi” on Back to the Future Recordings with Brian Heath. “It's been an amazing journey and on the way I've met some incredible people. I'm just gonna keep creating, having a good time, and making people shake their ass.”

Some follow trends, others set them. Award-winning music producer & live performer Rodriguez Jr. also known as Olivier Mateu has spent 25 years in the industry. His vast experience in all genres of electronic music makes him the visionary of melodic house and techno that he is today.
Over the years he has gradually honed his style into the dynamic, colorful sound of beauty that can now be regularly found on Mobilee, Anjunadeep, Systematic, Armada and demanded for on remixes of Stephan Bodzin, Booka Shade, Eli & Fur, Röyksopp, NTO, Timo Maas and more.

Drawing inspiration for his live performances from the vintage synthesizers, keyboards and dusty analog gear of his studio in Paris, Rodriguez Jr. relishes the opportunity to travel the globe and realise his project on stage. In doing so he has amassed a devoted and loyal fan base through the creation of his unique movement. Some of the most recent acclaimed shows featured huge festival performances at Sziget (Hungary), Lightning in A Bottle and CRSSD (both California), Paraiso and Sonar Festival (both Spain). Continuing to blur the boundaries between electronic and organic like few others can, his extensive touring schedule sees Mateu at world-renowned clubs every week, taking him to the likes of Solumun’s party at Destino Ibiza, Fabric London and Space Miami.

Not stopping there, Rodriguez Jr. has formed a special musical partnership with former Nouvelle Vague vocalist Liset Alea. The pair met 15 years ago creating music for Laurent Garnier´s label, and through their ongoing live RJLA project, they tell sonic stories, fusing organic charms of live instrumentation with cutting-edge music for the dancefloor and presenting this at selected events. This culminated in an extraordinary audio/visual display for broadcast pioneers Cercle, with a unique performance at the carefully selected idyllic location of Falaises d’Etretat, showcasing their captivating live electronics.

On the production front, Mateu has continued to have an exceptional output, with his last release on Mobilee Radian entering the Beatport top ten within three days following release. Another highlight was his full Anjunadeep debut on the eclectic double-cut entitled Phoenix/Amargosa. Alongside this his remixes have also been received with equal merit on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Systematic or Poker Flat. His latest reworking of Eli & Fur on Anjunadeep made it to number three of the Beatport melodic house & techno chart. On Spotify, his music reaches an audience of 625,000 listeners each month and continues to grow every week.
