As a displaced Mancunian currently holed up in a sedate corner of the South West, as resident jock at Bath's Origins night, Stack Effect has been road testing unreleased material on receptive dancefloors for the last 6 + months.

Showtime now beckons, and three tracks here combine sharp broken beats / breaks, incisive riffs and drifting pads. The pitched up, disembodied vocals manage to inject fragments of warmth and soul, the basslines, from dark n' buzzing to deep n dubby, hold things together via servings of cohesive electronic funk.

The one remix comes from Berlin dons Hard Ton, who take Could It Be You for a little journey around a sweaty, tripped out Italo - meets - proto house basement, before emerging blinking into the spring dawn.

Now in summer 2023, he comes once again, this time bearing spacey 2 Step gifts, with spoken word fragments, addictive M1 B line and riffy hooks working in and out of sharp broken beats.

LA based, Matrix Funk label honcho Monstergetdown takes a more direct route on the remix front, adding slamming 4/4 rhythms and neo rave sensibilities for what sounds like it could be a powerful floor weapon in the right hands.
