Stahlplatten’s owner Carlos Weber a.k.a. Edelstahl describes his style as “Techno with attitude”, and, by taking a listen to his productions, you’d better believe what he has to say. 
His Tresor EP, a homage to the legendary Berlin club, is fiery and blazing: opening “Echolot”’s teasing percussions and stretched synth stabs make up for an apocalyptic atmosphere; the frequency filtering’s in the breaks go on to a heavily pounding and intense rhythm, surrounded by an analogue frenzy. The title track’s Tresor with steely groove delves into a mammoth wall of sound, while “Prometeus” is an irreverent bouncy sped up number: its warehouse feeling and grimy lead open the floor to a stomping big room vibe, galloping and smashing. Definitely some proper hard stuff in here, this guy knows how to deliver.

Not many know I have some parallel projects to Opuswerk, So I thought it'd make sense to upload the snippets of the latest EP we did with @francoisx as Hiss:1292.

Here's what the press releases says:

There is definitely something mysterious about Hiss:1292, and unlike a number of other techno projects, it is not the identity of the two producers at stake here.
It has never been concealed : the guys behind the curtains are Opuswerk and Francois X. The latter is found at postal codes between 1200 and 1209 in Switzerland, the second in 92… right near Paris. Hence 1292.
Nobody’s hiding here…

Nobody ? Well, not quite. For this new project at least hides something, or some mysterious spirits that may have chosen to haunt these vinyl grooves. Four of them to be correct ; namely Augun, Damballah, Eshu and Simbi ; four Veves of the Dahomey and Yoruba Vodoo traditions, four complex and intense spirits that have seized Hiss:1292′s music to make it their own.

It is often the intuition of similarities between voodoo and techno that pushes some producers to chose their tracks names with Vodun keywords. Indeed, intense experiences one can endure in some effective techno installment can sometimes approach the mental images we have of Voodoo trance and seizures.
Here, the process has been different. The voodoo theme was unintended at first, but it seemed like a spell had been cast on the record, and the artists were bound to name their music after the spirits that dwell within.If you are curious enough to read a little about Augun, Damballah, Eshu, and Simbi while you listen to the EP, you’ll probably get an eerie feeling, the machine feel of techno will start to peel off, and you’ll get the strange impression you’re listening to something else.
And don’t you worry. The way it has been arranged, those spells should all be very benign…

The vinyl comes with an inner sleeve, where the sequel of the Hiss:1292 conceptual comic strip by Matthieu Cannavo has been printed.
The vévés’ glyphs have also been represented by the creation of typographic characters, and the skull-makeup-suggestive artwork is accidental wall paint from the future DEMENT3D studios…

I don’t think much has to be said to introduce this mainstay of the international Techno scene. Active since the late 80s, Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent is one of the centerpieces of UK Techno. Releases on R&S Records, work as an sound engineer for the likes of Derrick May, appearances all over the world… In 1994 finally he started his Project „The Advent“ together with ex partner Colin Mc Bean.
Besides touring the world over, Cisco also leads his own imprint Kombination Research.

The Advent lleva ya unos cuantos años en esto de producir música de clubs. Francisco Ferreira (Cisco) abandonó sus estudios de estilo cuando se encontró trabajando como ingeniero de sonido para nada más y nada menos que Derrick May y Fingers Inc & Adonis. Esto le condujo a participar en las legendarias Jack Trax series. Entre sus propias producciones nos encontramos auténticos clásicos como el Space Opera's y el Cisco Ferreira EP en Fragile Records. En 1989 Cisco se juntó a Colin y Keith para formar el Dj trío KCC. Los tres se convirtieron en residentes de las legendarias fiestas Confusión. Estos eventos, que tenían lugar los domingos por la noche, vieron pasar por su cabina a artistas de la talla de Kid Batchelor, Richie Hawtin, Kevin Saunderson, Robert Owens, Terry Hunter o Roger Sánchez. Colin Mc Bean y Cisco Ferreira comenzaron a grabar juntos en 1990, llegando a trabajar como ingenieros de sonido con Fade II Black (a.k.a. Jay Denham ) en Bio Rhythms 2. Por su parte, Cisco también ha trabajado con CJ Bolland en The 4th Sign, Mantra, Camarage, Nightbreed y también con Mundo Musique y Darren Price. En 1994 Cisco fichó por Internal Recordings y formó The Advent. Desde entonces este proyecto ha publicado una serie the EPs de electro y de techno absolutamente sobresalientes Elements of Life (1994) representaba a la perfección el sonido de The Advent. Después vino el CD Shaded Elements y luego le siguió su tercer largo New Beginning's en 1997. En 1998 vendría su mix álbum Kombination Phunk en el que prestaban temas Dopplereffect, Luke Slater y Keith Tucker. Su relación con la causa electro también daría resultados en su aportación al catálogo de Internacional Deejay Gigoló con Time Trap Technik (Gigoló, 56). En 1999 The Advent decidieron seguir sus carreras por separado. Colin inició su propia aventura discográfica con la creación de Phoenix G Records para recuperar sus viejos alias, G Glame -con su propio sello, Alpha Recordings y Mr. G. Por su parte, Cisco continúa como The Advent y además con su propia plataforma Kombination Research Records aunque no descuida otros sellos como Tresor -de 2002 es su contundente Sketched for life para este mismo sello berlinés-, Rotation Records (el sello de Dave Angel ) y en Synewave Records. Recientemente, Cisco se ha mudado a Lisboa para darle una vida más soleada a su familia -sus orígenes se remontan a la isla de Madeira de donde emigró con sus padres a Inglaterra-. En 2005 vuelve a Tresor para entregar un álbum de estudio titulado Trinity (Tresor). Sin centrarse exclusivamente en el hardtechno, que lo ha hecho popular, nos podemos encontrar tanto electro y como el house más sintético a lo largo del LP. No en vano uno de las colaboraciones del álbum es la voz de Paris Da Black Fu (más conocido como Detroit Grand Pubahs ). Encargos de sellos extranjeros que no impiden que siga concentrado en sus producciones para su propio sello Kombination Research Records que mantiene con mimo.

Anja Schneider collaborate once again with close friends to muster, remix and vocalize for Anja Schneider’s “Little Creatures”, the 94tth release to boot!

Mobilee label-chief, Anja Schneider and BPitch wingman, Kiki, solely dominate the release with minimal beats, in sync claps, soft baselines and a deep blow of infernal lyrics heavily breathing out, “are you a saint or are you a sinner?” For some, the far-out thought may not sit well as it’s revealed that the vicious demon behind the vocals in “Little Creatures” are from none other than the fair-skinned Helsinki sunshine boy and co-producer himself. Listen closely however, and pick out Kiki’s signature accent rolling out the lyrical purrs.

Flip over to the B-side and Anja and Kiki welcome back the seductive vocals of L.A. treasure-girl, Cari Golden who colored her name bold after being featured in Pan-Pot’s “Captain My Captain”. Also written and produced by Anja Schneider and Kiki, the multi-faceted track “Something That’s For Life” is revved up at the start making it a total girl-power number.

Finishing the package with an Acid Paradise remix of “Little Creatures” is mobilee’s man of the hour, Ray Okpara. His unique hypnotic beats combined with upbeat percussion could possibly stem from Ray’s african roots but his upbeat mood and flying spirit makes this remix a high energy number from a top contributor.
