Following the same pattern as its initial two releases, WWW is back with EP004 in a shape of a remix pack: retaining two remixers from the previous pack and introducing two new names on the bill. Both Hong Kong via Nantes Romain FX and Vilnius italo adept Black Feeling delivered massive remixes in the first pack and boy they don't disappoint yet again. Romain has totally reworked the track and infused it with exotic oriental sounds and Black Feeling hits all the marks once again with his signature feel-good italo house vibes.

Since Blaise Balda has already released one EP on Rees' Paradiso Records, it was natural to ask Adam for a remix. Middlesbrough talent shines agent hitting all the right notes and keeping the vibe joyous and the energy pure.

Last but not least are Berlin's italo duo Sauvage World from Slow Motion/Wrong Era fame. Guys are raising the tempo up to 125, tweaking a few bits here and there and adding just a little bit extra of their own magic to make it sound like a proper italo banger for not-so-wrong era we all find ourselves in.

Free Download: DJ Shadow - Midnight In A Perfect World (Ben Gomori's Utopian Edit)

Bonzai regular Jakhira steps over to Piston Recordings for his debut EP entitled Americana. Multi-talented Belgium based producer Jakhira certainly knows how to churn out quality vibes. At BP he relishes in dishing out quality prog while keeping his finger on the deep house pulse that runs through his veins. He has also graced various other labels with his sounds and we're delighted to see him at Piston where we hope to see much more in the future.

Los Feliz is a beautifully constructed slice of deep house, with pumping kick drums and shuffling hats that deliver a smooth rhythmic flow, to the playful deep bass that gives the track so much depth and lushness. Cool vocal snippets run through the track as ultra cool keys play out with a pure deep house vibe alongside a super smooth and groovy trumpet. A solid offering that will be a welcome addition in any set.

Gowanus intros with a nice and chunky kick drum and crispy hi hat in classic style. As the percussion start to build bringing a fine flowing rhythm, a super lush organ is introduced and right away you feel hooked on the groove. We are taken deeper into the groove with a wonderful probing bassline and a mesmerizing trumpet riff. An absolute must have track that will not disappoint.

After putting out Kito Jempere’s stunning Sea Monster album earlier in the year, Hell Yeah now serve up a bunch of remixes from it that have been secret weapons for the last few months. Behind them are Black Spuma, Lipelis and Bell Towers and they all serve up real heaters. First up with possibly their best ever remix are Black Spuma—a collaboration between Phillip Lauer (Tuff City Kids, Arto Mwambe) and Fabrizio Mammarella (Telespazio)—who flip ‘Ampa’ into a bootylicious house cut with fat bass stabs and sci-fi synths. It’s retro in flavour and riddled with melodies that are brightly coloured and emotive, and when the vocal is layered in it helps carry you away on a wave of bliss. For DJs who prefer to keep things raw, a dub version without the vocals is also included and bangs that bit harder. 
Lipelis is a Russian studio wizard and the percussionist from Kito Jempere Band. Famed for his originals on LIES, underrated remixes of MacDonald Flak And The Ack-Ack Packs and for his high impact jams as TMP, he is a real music maniac. Here the Moscow man reworks Lifetime Theme into a cosmic bouncer with taught rubber kick drums and nimble melodies that dance over the beats. His own virtuoso percussion and exotic chords add tropical flavours and the whole thing has corrugated bass that gets right under your skin. 
Lastly, up steps Australian artist Bell Towers from the Public Possession label. His playful version of Lifetime Theme has punchy broken beats and steamy vocal yelps overlaid by big sonorous chords. Uplifting progressions bring a sense of party and big piano chords add another layer of arms in the air fun. Deep but dynamic, it’s a lush track to close out another EP packed with high grade weaponry.

Love On The Rocks returns with its first release for 2019 and its first-ever reissue, “Cry Freedom” by Romie Singh.

Romie Singh is a singer/songwriter, whose Indian name from her father’s side was given to the trio she would come to form in the mid-1980s in Germany, together with Günther Janssen on electric guitar and Peter Hantke on bass. They found each other in the 1980s in Hannover when Romie, fresh from England, joined their already well-established German new wave/jazz-rock band, Caligari. They went straight into the studio in Hamburg to record a contribution to a “Deutsche Welle” (German wave) compilation album produced by Gorilla Musik-Verlag for Ahorn/Teldec in 1981.

While writing and recording in Peter Hantke’s studio in Hamburg between 1983 and 1985, the three formed Romie Singh. They continued to compose new songs in English after moving to a permanent studio in Cologne. Their demo tapes attracted the attention of CBS in Frankfurt who offered them the legendary Can Studio to record and the celebrated bass player with Klaus Voorman of the Yoko Ono Band to produce their new music. “Masters” was released on vinyl in 1986 and a maxi single of one of the album’s songs called “Dancing to Forget” was released that year and still has a following today.

Romie Singh’s decision in 1988 to break with CBS and go independent meant no immediate follow-up album but resulted in a series of self-produced songs which remain unpublished, except for the maxi single “Cry Freedom”, which was released on the indie label HeartBeat in 1989. Singh’s “Cry Freedom”, took its name from the 1987 film about a journalist’s fraught attempts to investigate the death of anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko in police custody. Though the song was written as a visceral response to events unfolding in South Africa surrounding Nelson Mandela’s release, she combined the lyrics with a children’s skipping song to celebrate that the innocence of childhood and the freedom to dance was a human right.

“Cry Freedom” came to  Love On The Rocks founder Paramida while on tour in Los Angeles in 2017. Thirty years after its initial release, the song feels timeless and its message feels more relevant than ever. 1989 was a year of drastic global shift that brought globe-altering change to Johannesburg, Berlin, Moscow, and Beijing. 2019 marks another stage global shift with the tightening of borders, erosion of civil liberties and human rights, and endless beating of the political drums calling for division and war, Singh’s lyrics express a universal call that echoes around the world, with no regard for borders, race, colour or creed. The cry for freedom. To live. To love. And that most fundamental expression of joy and unity known in every culture and corner of the world...to dance!

“Cry Freedom” is the 19th release on Love On The Rocks. It is issued as a limited edition of 300 hand-stamped and numbered 12” vinyl containing the 10-minute, 22-second ‘long’ version of the track as originally released on the 1989 maxi single. The other side includes an etching based on the original album cover artwork.

He collaborates with his label partner and longtime dj mate Soundbank as This Is Our Soundsystem on ‘Ziza In Space’, an ethereal cosmic trip with bubbling sounds & quirky synth flutes.

We’re by no means strangers to Donald Dust! Last seen on our channel 10 months ago - ahead of his fantastic release on Claptrap - Donald’s been keeping himself busy, working on more Italo goodness to keep us all a little more lively in our new less than exciting lifestyle… His newest offering comes in the form of a 12” on Blaq Numbers’ sub-label Whyte Numbers seventh release, featuring 4 originals and a remix from Mood Hut co-founder Local Artist.

Our premiere is the B2 cut, titled “Lightning Bolt of Love". At first listen, and for the first minute or two of it’s runtime, this track seems like a solid cut of straight-forward italo: bleeps & bloops, a repeating cowbell, hefty snare and a bouncy bassline are no surprise at all. Though seemingly unnoticeably, the song falls into a psychedelic haze, pads emerge, the bass-line is swapped for a much simpler, bare-bones melody, tribal drums and distorted vocals, paired with distant chants and bird noises add delicious texture. The snare never returns, and the beat descends into a bouncing rolling rhythm. By the time you notice, you’re deep in a beautiful jungle psychedelia. Seemingly two songs in one, the story-telling in this track is simply amazing. Lightning Bolt of Love is both the perfect tool to change lanes in a set and create a blissful dance-floor moment, and a beautiful listen for those of us who love a song that tells a good story.

PREMIERE: Donald Dust - Lightning Bolt Of Love

Legendary Adriatic DJ and producer Verdo doesn't release often, but when he does you need to listen. He always has one foot on the dancefloor, while the other makes a leap into outer space.

Resident at the infamous Gratis Club in Senigallia, a skilled musician who brings virtuoso playing and someone with his own immediately identifiable sound, Verdo is a real hidden treasure. The Italian has previously released on Danny Was A Drag King and also this label back in 2017, and mixes up anything from afro to acid, disco to downtempo in his grooves.

'Symmetry' kicks off in strident fashion, with throwback piano chords lighting up the airwaves as stomping drums make you move. It's the sound of an all out celebration of the sort we have all been missing recently. 'Babbions' strikes a more tender note, with warm chords rising up through the cosmic arps and long legged drums. It's a twinkling track that glows bright and lifts your spirits no end.

'Procida' layers up more retro-future chords with bubbling melodies and star-gazing pads that will soundtrack sunsets by the sea in perfect fashion. "Second Trip' is a thoughtful track that sinks you into warm grooves, with shimmering keys that bring the romance. This one also comes as a bonus beatless version for lush ambient escapism and sentimental moments.
