White Horse EP marks a milestone for Darker Than Wax, as it is the first solo offering from Singapore-based co-founder Kaye. Despite being a driving force behind the label since its inception, as well as an accomplished producer, instrumentalist, and live performer, the entirety of Kaye’s previous releases have been collaborative efforts. In recent years, a newfound interest in analogue technology and a series of blistering hardware-only live Techno sets have allowed Kaye to hone a sound that is entirely his own. White Horse EP is very much a purely personal sonic direction and singular statement from a foundational Darker Than Wax artist.

While it was the Saxaphone and Jazz music that spun his life onto a musical trajectory, Techno was Kaye’s first electronic love. In his own words, Techno in the 90’s ‘was actually a chameoleon’ rather than a defined sound; a framework for exploring a wide range of musical influences. White Horse EP channels this open-mindedness, piecing together elements of New Wave and Electro with classic Chicago and Detroit motifs. Pairing together peak-time jacking tracks with melodic and vocal songs, this release is a showcase of the versatility and openness of Kaye’s approach to Techno.

The release also harkens back to a time when Techno could be a political and social force. The theme of the White Horse that appears throughout this work is a direct comment on the culture of power, prievelege, and inequality that pervades Singaporean society and strongly shapes its character. Armed with his raw sound and drive to create timeless music, Kaye has created a record that is both a dancefloor burner and a conceptual achievement.

Multinotes is the union of Italian music mainstays and enthusiasts Lehar, Musumeci and Olderic and depicts their vision and approach of modern electronic music. With the label's first compilation, 'Exhibition Vol. 1' the three even-handedly DJs and producers brought together artists and music from their closer environment to showcase the label's almost infinite potential to shape the scene's current and future sound. Multi-talented, cherished and respected Toto Chiavetta, widely known for releases on Innervisions or Mule Musiq, contributes what he claims to be his most 'crazy' production up to date, namely the track 'The Paranoid GoGo'.  What characterizes Toto's contribution to the EP is the typical yet always charming symbiosis of a stripped-down sounding bass line and the intriguing mental synths, which are accompanied by few vocal-snippets and are carefully implemented into the track. 'The Paranoid GoGo' invites the psyche to literally and naively strip naked to then realize that it is possibly sized up by an imaginative audience as the voice in your head plays tricks with your mind while you ride the dance-wave of the bass, midrange and treble.

EXCLUSIVE: Toto Chiavetta - The Paranoid GoGo [Multinotes]

Hailing from Brunswick, Melbourne, James and Peter Isaacs are the brotherly duo Donald’s House. They’ve been making music for around eight years.Without fail, every lunch time when making music, they’ll go to Sesame & Soul on Lygon St and order a cheese pie and Za’atar bread. James usually orders a coke zero as well.

This EP here is a collection of tracks written over a three year period. There’s a seven year age gap between the two. Pete got James into dance music by taking him to one of his parties that featured Pearson Sound and Mark Pritchard.After that, they started making music together. James is a trained Jazz guitarist, while Pete has been buying and playing records for about 15 years.

They’ve released two tracks with Sydney label Ken Oath. One on their debut sampler and one on their ambient tape. 
They previously lived in London, where they regularly attended CDR. This is where they met the dj Iona, who was the catalyst for the whole release and a mutual friend of theirs and Nick Höppner.

Taking influence from Paradise Garage styled disco, early 90s House, Italo and anything with a DMX drum kit, their take on dance dance music is as refreshing as it is familiar.You’ll often hear M1 solos, chords and stabs, juxtaposed against Phil Collins styled stadium drums, and groovy Seinfeld basslines that just beg your body to move.
