Mark Fanciulli is deep in the midst of a seemingly endless production hot-streak. His prolific summer, which shows no sign of easing up, continues with a superb new release for Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity imprint.

“The Fall” is a wonderfully unique concoction of groovy tech house with a distinct UK garage slant. Perfectly encapsulating the modern climate of electronic music, the track takes influence from various underground scenes and creates something all of its own. Melodic basslines merge with snapping rhythms, warm synths and a catchy vocal hook to create a versatile party tune that comes with bags of personality.

Phil Weeks frenetic remix locks into some tightly woven and relentlessly oscillating rhythm structures to spin the original out into another completely different dimension. Nasser Baker’s bassline-led rework shifts the attention to the bottom end with a superbly crafted house strut.

The London producer already has a few acclaimed EP's and remixes under his belt and supported Bonobo on his European tour this year. His mix opens with Chick Corea, Kazi on Stones Throw, Jon Hopkins and the Moods remix of his track 'Sunrays' from The Stars EP. Then it's into Letherette, Dirg Gerner, Caribou and his beautiful collaboration with Ifan Daffyd, before closing with recent guests Werkha and Maribou State. Hercules & Love Affair return to the fray with Controller, a pulsing, propulsive new song that signals the first salvo from their long-awaited new album. Featuring The Horrors’ Faris Badwan on vocals, it takes the Hercules’ disco-house heritage and fuses it with starker more experimental stylings.

A taster both sonically and aesthetically of the new album, 'Controller' connects new wave, post-punk and 80s electro within the clubland realm of Hercules & Love Affair. Hearing the The Horrors’ live version of Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle’s ‘Your Love’, Andy realised he’d found a rock artist willing to engage with dance culture's history.  With its underbelly of seamy ‘80s electro-pop, Controller’s sub-dom, master-and-servant roleplay in the lyrics work perfectly with Faris vocals delivery creating something rather special.
