A few last minute changes this week. The Cut Copy track I'd included was made unavailable in the UK, and the Bill and Sarah track got pulled after I made the list public! The Hannah Peel also only came to light this morning. Clash Music helped to plug a couple of needed gaps/amendments. Dream Syndicate were a very late substitution for Bill and Sarah. MMode are indie pop with a dance twist, marking a change of mood which runs from Amber Mark through to Bristol's Maximum Joy (shades of Rip Rig & Panic and The Pop Group). Then Msafiri Zawose marks another change that takes us through reggae (Jesse Royal), dreamy trance (the remix of El Buho), to the closing fusion of electronics and brass band (Hannah Peel). The MMode track is a breath of fresh air, but Hannah Peel's "Archid Orange Dwarf" is pick of the week. I'm looking forward to hearing the whole album.

These are selections from an USB compilation we will be selling at shows. It includes tracks from Better Late Than Never, The Nods, the Slackers live in 1993, The Slackers live in 1995, Compilation Tracks, and Rehearsal tapes.  Over 60 tracks!

Of the selections here, Valerie is from a rehearsal in 1995 and probably hasn't been heard since.  Run Away is from Better Late Than Never.  Gasoline is from the Nods cd.

In honor of their 20th anniversary, the Slackers have released a collection of 20 tunes.

The tunes were picked by fans as their 'favorites' in a poll taken around 6 months ago.  

Then Vic went through the archives and selected versions of the tunes.  All these songs were remastered, many from the original vinyl.   The vinyl sound gives the digital recordings a nice warm organic sound.  

So don't freak out when you hear the vinyl 'noise' on a track, its meant to be there.

This limited edition collection is currently available exclusively at the Slackers merch table.

A brand new studio and live project by respected London DJ (and BBE family member) Bijan, Coda Deep is an outlet for the his more tribal, progressive, avant-garde work. Ché La Seye is a shadowy and elusive London-based electronic music producer and songwriter with some seriously heavyweight dance tracks under his belt, but sadly we're not allowed to tell you any more than that...
Clean production and expansive sonic vistas characterise 'Enchanted Forest', calling to mind the type of deep, progressive techno sound championed by Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y. among others. Venezuelan DJ / producer Dave Delgado aka Diegho supplies a techy, tribal remix of Enchanted Forest, somewhat reminiscent of the new- school afro sound of Culoe De Song.
To complete the package, Coda Deep cleverly combines Enchanted Forest with the Roy Ayers timeless classic ‘Tarzan’ (best known to house music fans from Osunlade’s 2005 remix), creating a compelling juxtaposition between old and new; electronic and analogue.
