Long time collaborators Complete Walkthru and Physical Therapy join together for their first EP on Allergy Season, Popcorn. Salvaged from sessions begun in 2015, the pair present two lush end emotive house tracks, backed by a minimized dub from Jump Source.

Lead track “Popcorn” opens as a tight italo-house tune before erupting into a a wall of shoegaze synths. Heavily road tested, it's a surefire “big moment” on the dancefloor. B-side “Origin” is propulsive and pretty, layering piano and strings over an acid bassline.

Jump Souce, the all-star Montreal duo of Patrick Holland and Priori, hand in a tripped-out tech-house interpretation of ‘Popcorn.’ The meandering psychedelic jam teases elements of the original between tense staccato synths.

People often say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what of a song? Take a single song and show it to a thousand people and you’re bound to get a thousand different interpretations, moods, reactions and opinions. Far Out Radio Systems latest offering aptly named, “Far Out Radio Systems Vol. 03” embodies that theory and more. The four tracks selected stretch from club centric to jungle and there and back again. Each full to the brim with a myriad of emotions and moments. With that being said, we here at Fiction have chosen, “In A Moment of Pure Being (4 A.M. Mix)” to premier in full and what a ride it is.

The track begins, with the sounds of birds chirping. Dipping in, and out of the background, as a lone piano melody floats in the midst. Progressing along, there is tension in the air as the hi-hats and snares come in, quickly followed by the kick and the track is rocketing off. Characteristically of many of his remixes and originals, the drums are in full effect and immediately recognizable and lend a heavy hand to the almost somber feeling of the track. Albeit there is a sense of hope once the melody returns in the second half.

Overall this is another great entry in the legacy of Far Out Radio Systems (aka Kiani and His Legion). This is vinyl only, off of Tanzbar Records, but don’t let that stop you from ordering it. Releases like these don’t come around too often and when they do, you should take note.

PREMIERE: Far Out Radio Systems - In A Moment Of Pure Being (4 A.M. Mix) [Tanzbar Records]

Vronsky & Löwen’s Listening Blue label is off-the-cuff with 101% Techno compilation. The fourth edition features submarine techno with Fiend-X, Soma, Bête Imaginaire, контур сс and Vronsky. Bête Imaginaire’s ‘On the Beach’ fuses dubby warehouse techno with heartfelt incisions like raving in a daytime warehouse with sunlight seeking to pierce the blackened windows. The Frenchmen’s superb production is on full display by blending the sound of waves, as white noise in the midst of a rhythmic drive with unadulterated percussion and 4/4 overdriven beats. There is a raw emotive element… a calm before the storm, except you’re well past the calm.

101% Techno EP is slated for release on December 14th 2018 via Bandcamp & Juno.

PREMIERE: Bête Imaginaire - On The Beach (LB004)

Atop the rocks and murky sands, metallic crafts and lofty structures sprawled across the seabed. Inside, figures moved swiftly through the corridors illuminated by deep warm lights. Underneath the waters they had built a new world, a place where the rules and constructs of real life couldn't determine their path anymore. Many had told them it was an impossible task, that they were doomed to fail, but what had once seemed like a perilous place to inhabit had now become their home. It was a peaceful existence beneath the depths of the ocean. 

Australian DJ and producer Andy Garvey launches her Pure Space imprint with four club focused tracks journeying through electro, breaks and techno. E Davd is our pick but the entire EP is huge and features tracks from Reptant, Daze and Point Guard.

The subconscious cave is not an empty space in the conscious mind, it is a bubbling space, haunted by questions and mystical activity.

“Natif” (Stalactite - in Hebrew) is a seventh tracks EP by Tel-Aviv based DJ and producer MYKI.

Any substance, water drip or murmur reveals a cloak of meaning in the form of a showy echo. A variety of ancient animals, forbidden imaginary fruits and mysterious passions sneak in at night and look for a place of refuge to rest, to sleep.

The stalactites (Natif) are amorphous juice from the bottom of the mind, they are the seeds of confusion and irrationality and they seep through cracks in the cave and produce chaos and trembling until suddenly, out of a nightmare are born proud crystals of splendor and inspiring beauty.
