IN THE LAST YEAR, SHE HAS COME TO PROMINENCE WITH HER VERSATILITY AND SELECTIONS THAT MELT TOGETHER DUBSTEP, JUNGLE, BREAKBEAT, GARAGE AND OTHER HEAVY BASS SOUNDS. JANE IS A RESIDENT OF GASOLINE RADIO AND THE POLYGON EVENT SERIES.

THE SERIES IS UPDATED ON A WEEKLY BASIS WITH RECORDINGS OF SETS THAT HAVE BEEN PLAYED IN OUR SPACE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE RUSSIAN FULL-SCALE INVASION OF UKRAINE. A new set from the Before The Curfew series, performed by Raavel at Ground Floor on March 30th, is now available on our SoundCloud. Despite being constantly on the front lines, Raavel's still making music and gearing up for a new release. During a small break, he visited us to share the energy and thoughts that have accumulated over time. 

Raavel is a DJ, producer, and soldier who has been defending Ukraine since the first day of the full-scale invasion. During the war, Raavel released a vinyl EP "Insect Replicant" on DJ MELL G's "Juicy Gang Records" label, and the track "Wakalaka" was included in Helena Hauff's compilation from London's Fabric Records. 

Before the Curfew is a series of music podcasts that emerged in 2022 after the reopening of the club following the liberation of Kyiv. All recordings presented in this series take place before midnight, before the curfew begins. Before the Curfew offers a vibrant snapshot of the Ukrainian music scene amidst challenging times, celebrating resilience, creativity, and unity through music.

Co-founder of Norway’s future-facing Ute crew, Ekkel (Teo Bachs) has a front-row seat in the cockpit on their psychedelic flavoured quest. From their woodland beginnings they’ve staked a claim to freedom through music and community, and expanded to include brick and mortar club nights and a self-titled label for the release of their magnetic and mysterious techno sounds. Forest-bath electronics that take stock of Scandinavia’s ambient tradition and cross-pollinate it with a measure of acid, trance and midnight sun. Teo’s own steadily rising number of productions (side project H25 included) has fleshed out Ute’s vision with a personal twist, and there’s another three scheduled for the fall. The past few years too have seen him hard at work exploring the possibilities of sound in a lonely cabin as part of Solar Alliance, collaborating with S.O.N.S on Korean label Junction Forest and producing many more unreleased tracks, some of which you’ll hear here first for a very special number. It’s a wormhole trip that marches headlong from the shadows, shimmering and physical beats that heave and swell, tribal breaks that flit from track to track and build a cathartic mood that harks back to Ute’s woodland roots. This week, we're listening to Nastya Vogan for ∄ 5th Anniversary Countdown.

The resident's set conceals well-known vocal parts and enchanting textures. Soft and warm ritual motifs turn into pensive sequences without losing the counterpoint of four-to-the-floor. The set ends with a slow dance to the cover by the band Nichlava of the song Invite Me to Your Dreams, famously performed by Nazariy Yaremchuk.

In addition to DJing, Nastya produces and composes her own music, showcasing everything from captivating live solo performances to creative collaborations. You may have experienced her electronic mono-opera with Albert van Abbe or heard her on the Standard Deviation label. Nastya is also a co-organizer and teacher at the Module Exchange electronic music school in Kyiv.

Cosmic Mind

∄ is a cultural institution in Kyiv, established in 2019 on the territory of a former brewery, located at 41 Kyrylivska Street. It serves as a multifunctional space for club events like ∄ Community Events, Curated By, Enareї, for experimental music concerts like Miasma of the Real and other cultural events.

∄ also manages the in-house music label Standard Deviation. Established in September 2020, Standard Deviation is a multidisciplinary label for music, art and publishing, cultivating creative exchange between an aspiring Ukrainian scene and a global community.

K41 is the community-born name of the institution embraced and widely used by the public.
