Outset — is a new show available on our SoundCloud, which highlights the opening sets of the Community Events. 
Outset focuses on the initial performances that kick-off events, allowing one to experience and appreciate the music that sets the tone for the evening.

The first episode is a set from Backyard Opening 05.05.2024 by ecce lizard. It’s the multi-genre journey of varying intensities and weights that starts with ritual ambient and gradually evolves into a thoroughly executed exploration of rhythms, timbres, and moods from different cultures and eras. Fluid, yet consistent.


Ethereal and evolving soundscapes during the first hours of each Community Event, always a reason to come earlier.

Outset — це нове шоу на нашому SoundCloud, яке висвітлює сети, що відкривають Community Events. 
Outset фокусується на виступах, які розгортають події, дозволяючи відчути музику, що стає фундаментом вечора. 

Першим випуском став сет із Backyard Opening 05.05.2024 від ecce lizard. Це мультижанрова подорож різної інтенсивності та напруги, що починається з ритуального ембієнту і поступово переростає у ретельне дослідження ритмів, тембрів і настроїв різних культур та епох. Плинно, але послідовно. 

Ефемерні та мінливі звукові пейзажі протягом перших годин Community Event, завжди як привід прийти раніше.

OUTSET ① ECCE LIZARD

A real pleasure to host one of my favourite djs in the Animix series, the ever-charming and immensely talented @playvlada, with her distinctly recognisable signature sound.

With a style deep, but somehow oozing with equal parts crunch and groove, Vlada is a master of blending her wide and eclectic old-school record collection into undulating journeys of bassy, hypnotic grooves, telling of her longstanding passion to the craft. 

The Russian born, but Berlin based mainstay balances touring with running mix series/party collective speLL in Berlin & beyond, with @vaahzer. One of my favourite parties in town :)

A new set from the Before The Curfew series, performed by ANA B at Backyard on August 11th, is now available on our SoundCloud. 

ANA B is a Ukrainian DJ who has performed at some of the biggest venues in Europe and the US. 
This time, the artist stepped away from her classic style, immersing us in the atmosphere of queer parties in New York, where she began her musical career.
This recording takes us to the bright and warm memories of the Backyard summer 2024.

Before the Curfew is a series of music podcasts that emerged in 2022 after the reopening of the club following the liberation of the Kyiv region. All recordings presented in this series take place before midnight before the curfew begins. Before the Curfew offers a vibrant snapshot of the Ukrainian music scene amidst challenging times, celebrating resilience, creativity, and unity through music.

BEFORE THE CURFEW ⑳ ANA B

@noizar's sound goes far beyond conventional house or techno. The Ukrainian DJ, who is now based in Amsterdam, has long since proven this with countless closing sets as resident at Kyiv’s legendary Closer club. It was there where he stood out for unearthing minimal techno treasures in places no one else looks. As such, you can always be sure that wherever Noizar mixes crop up online, they will be flooded with cheeky "ID?" requests, and quite often you will find they come on his vinyl-only Wicked Bass label.

For his Dekmantel Mix he offers a perfect snapshot of what he does in the booth: carefully dug out delights that don't really fit in usual categories. But they do tap into a specific deepness and groove that is rooted in Kyiv's minimal scene and the dance floor of Closer club. It results in a tight, taught hour of body music that perfectly balances function and form.

March Specials wrap up with a set from Alinka (she/her)—a Kyiv-born dj shaped by Chicago house. She co-founded with Shaun J. Wright the independent label Twirl, where they channel their vision of the electronic scene, infused with the spirit of the old school.

Despite her busy schedule, Alinka stays deeply connected to Kyiv and its music community. She returns regularly to support the scene, catch up with friends, and spend time in the city that will always feel like home.

March Specials завершуються із сетом від Alinka (вона/її) — диджейки, яка народилася в Києві та виросла на чикагському гаусі. Разом із Shaun J. вона заснувала незалежний лейбл «Twirl», через який вони транслюють своє бачення електронної сцени, пронизане духом старої школи.

Попри насичений графік, Alinka зберігає глибокий зв’язок із Києвом і локальною сценою. Вона регулярно повертається, щоб підтримати спільноту, провідати друзів та місто, яке завжди залишається її домом.

MARCH SPECIALS ④ ALINKA

DTF Magazine починає нову серію, де пропонуватиме засновникам і кураторам українських лейблів записувати мікси лише з треків і композицій, що в них видавалась.

Відкриває серію Ігор Глушко [ @igor_glushko ], співзасновник формації Rhythm Büro [ @rhythm-buro ] і керівник однойменного лейблу, які цього року відзначають своє десятиліття.

«У цьому міксі звучать треки абсолютно з кожного нашого релізу, а також з трьох релізів, які ми готуємо до випуску, — розповідає Ігор. — Крім того, я хотів, щоб мікс був з різноплановою музикою і розкривав різні грані саунду».

∄ is a cultural institution in Kyiv, established in 2019 on the territory of a former brewery, located at 41 Kyrylivska Street. It serves as a multifunctional space for club events like ∄ Community Events, Curated By, Enareї, for experimental music concerts like Miasma of the Real and other cultural events.

∄ also manages the in-house music label Standard Deviation. Established in September 2020, Standard Deviation is a multidisciplinary label for music, art and publishing, cultivating creative exchange between an aspiring Ukrainian scene and a global community.

K41 is the community-born name of the institution embraced and widely used by the public.
