Liquid Ice was a 5 member Cadence-lypso band from Dominica. "Femm' La" was released in 1976 as part of their "En Eruption" album. With maximum respect to the original gem, we came up with this Afro - Cosmic - Disco remix which is available for free download. 
Originated in the 1970s, the Cadence-lypso genre combined calypso music from the English speaking Caribbean and the cadence rampa (or simply kadans) of Haiti with influences of Dominican traditional music. It spread and became popular in the dance clubs around the Creole world and Africa as well as the French Antilles (Guadeloupe and Martinique). It was pushed in the 1970s by groups from Dominica, and was the first style of Dominican music to find international acclaim. Liquid Ice was one of those kadans bands.

Zikr is devotional acts, primarily in Sufi Islam in which short phrases or prayers are repeatedly recited silently within the mind or aloud.
Another type of group dhikr ceremony that is most commonly performed in Arabic countries is called the haḍra. The haḍra is a communal gathering for dhikr and its associated liturgical rituals, prayers, and song recitals, performing both in private or public.

The first single from "A Guide to the BIrdsong of Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean" comes from Belize's Garifuna Collective who interpreted the song of the Black Catbird.

This is the first single from an album of music inspired by the song of endangered birds with 100% of the profits going towards organisations working to protect them.

"A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean” is the second Volume in the series following on from "A Guide to the Birdsong of South America", originally released on Robin's old label Rhythm and Roots. Volume I raised nearly 15,000 USD for two birding organisations and featured artists like Nicola Cruz, Dengue Dengue Dengue and Chancha Via Circuito.

For this second edition we have shifted focus north of the equator and to the vulnerability of bird species like the Momoto Carenado (Nicaragua), Ferminia (Cuba) and the Jamaican Blackbird (Jamaica), birds who have dwindled in numbers as a result of the environmental repercussions of climate change, deforestation and trapping for the pet trade.

For the album we chose 10 endangered or threatened bird species and challenged 10 of our favourite producers or musicians from the region. Working with the Xeno Canto birdsong community and the Macaulay Library, we sourced a recording of each bird’s song. Each artist was then asked to create an original piece of music inspired by the bird and its song.

The project would not have been possible without the support of an incredible Kickstarter community, helping us raise £12,599 in August 2019.

Once the costs of production have been covered, all of the proceeds from this album will be donated to Birds Caribbean, La Asociación Ornitológica de Costa Rica and Fundacion TXORI in Mexico. All profits from the sales of the record, music streaming, poster and t-shirt will be shared between these organisations who focus on engaging local communities to help improve and grow the bird tourism sector, create awareness of vulnerable birds with young people and crucially, provide rescue, rehabilitation and breeding programmes.

Marwan Hawash (@marw1) is a Palestinian Dj and event promoter based in Haifa. Booking manager and co-owner of the late ‘Anna Loulou’ club in Jaffa. Marwan is one half of the Electronic Hafla due ‘Arabs Do it Better’( @arabsdoitbetter). Marwan see a strong connection between the middle eastern (Levant area), North African and the Latin American rhythm. He mix between Electric Arabic to acid African beats all the way to organic Latin sounds. Slow and unpredictable.
