This is a recording of Yuki Yasuda performing my modern work for 13-string koto.  Ms. Yasuda premiered this work in 2011 on a concert program titled "Soundings on Ancient Strings" at the New England Conservatory's Pierce Hall.

I originally conceived of this work in 1991 and rewrote it in 2024 as heard here in this audio rendering using Note Performer softwre.

In this trio for violin, viola and cello, the music represents Jacob's internal struggle and confronting his dark side to become personally transformed; Jacob becomes Israel.

TOKING DOWN ONE'S SORROWS

Music inspired by the great musical works with the same title by Mozart and Schubert, FANTASY has multiple themes contained within a single movement.  Composed in 2020, after four months of isolation at home in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, I was sorely in need of fantasy. Reality had been too depressing. This music helped to lift my spirits. As music does, it arrived from and sings to another more hopeful place.
