Much of our time is taken up by hard work and perseverance, and this piece is a reminder to savour these fleeting moments in which our hard work pays off and we move one step closer to our dreams.

Stantz is creator, artist and musician, David Mackenzie. He is based in Bristol and creates content that tells important stories about modern life. He brand is about growth and self discovery. He is a keen meditator and an avid reader. He believes in music and art being crucial contributors to raising the frequency of consciousness in human beings on the planet.

David's music is a resource for the listener, a connection through time and space and a source of positive inspiration.

There have been points in David's life where he felt alone and misunderstood. He was raised in a family where serious mental health issues were rife and witnessed the lack of resources his parents had in their darkest times. As a child, David recognised his mother’s suffering and wanted to help her. Later in his teenage years he was isolated and didn’t fit in, and experienced severe bullying. David hated school and authority, believing the people in charge to be misinformed and that the school system lacked purpose and inspiration. It was at this point when music became a powerful resource for him, and a source of euphoria and escape. In music, David could find the form of expression he needed and begin to process and understand the deep range of emotions he was experiencing. He suddenly felt he had friends in the records he listened to, people who would be there for him whenever hr needed to feel, explore, learn or relate. There were people like him out there, rebelling against the injustices and inequalities in society; He wasn’t alone.

Since then, David has dedicated his life to giving this gift of musical resource back and being there for listeners in the way that other artists were there for him.

The concept was to bring another dimension or story that would work along side Adryelle's vocal narrative. Designing sounds to  construct spaces and colours to the imagination, moving the listener though places within the minds eye. ‘Break Out’ came out of an experience I had using the Silva Method, a meditation technique I use for healing and self-improvement. During one of my meditations, a memory resurfaced from when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I was sitting in our breakfast room with my mother, who was preparing me for a maths test I had to take in school. I ended up doing badly in the test; maths was a difficult subject for me. I remember the feeling of intense pressure and stress in my body as I strained to understand the questions. Then, in my meditation I suddenly experienced a flash of white light in my vision as if the memory had exploded. When I came out of the meditation, I felt a shift in the energy around my body. The restrictions I had imposed on myself as a child had disintegrated.

Break Out

When the shore drifts from view
Consciousness rises and falls
I am deepening layers
My breath evaporating air
I know I am not my body.
Crashing waves and feedback loops
Patterns playing and replaying
I go where ideas are caught
Bright-coloured fish, rising
You know you are not your body.
Another dimension lies below
And tension bubbles under
I will soon recede
Like the long line of the horizon
We know we are not our bodies.

All In Flux

All of my positive energy went into composing it; throughout the process I was concentrating on triumph, joy and bliss, and the experience in the studio was one of the most fun and fruitful of my career so far. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Stantz - Roons Fun Dance Tune

On some level we all know how powerful and magical we are, but society has conditioned us to think we are slaves and victims of circumstance. This piece is about my own re-conditioning using daily meditation, visualisation and journaling practices.
Through these practices I have proven to myself that the world is a reflection of who we are inside and we have the power to choose who we want to be. Of course, it has been extremely challenging, because I have had to face the deepest darkest parts of my past and present self with complete love and acceptance. Some of the practices have made me intensely emotional.
But it is important to do this work because I believe it is my duty as an artist and a human being to look deep inside myself, face my demons, and provide insight and inspiration. It feels like waking up from a dream.
To truly make a difference in the world, we must let go of the parts of ourselves that are victims, controllers and pleasers to liberate the authentic higher self. Forgiveness and love are the first steps towards true freedom.
