Early Life and Musical Awakening in Poland

In the heart of Bialystok, Poland, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and artistic spirit, a young talent named Starvin Cat was born. His journey into the world of electronic music began with a radio tape recorder gifted to him by his parents.

Growing up in Bialystok, Bartek found himself drawn to the vibrant underground music scene that thrived amidst the historic streets of his hometown. From the hypnotic basslines of trance to the raw energy of techno, he soaked up the diverse electronic sounds that emanated from clubs and raves, igniting his passion for the turntables.

The Transatlantic Odyssey: Settling in Chicago's Electronic Mecca

In the mid-1990s, Bartek's musical journey led him across the Atlantic to the city where electronic music had found its true home—Chicago. He arrived in the Windy City with a bag of records, a heart full of dreams, and a determination to contribute to the city's storied electronic music legacy.
Chicago's vibrant underground scene embraced the Polish DJ, and he wasted no time immersing himself in its pulsating heart. The city's iconic venues and its fervent crowd inspired Bartek to refine his unique style. Blending the cutting-edge sounds of Chicago's house and techno with his European sensibilities, he began crafting a signature sound that would soon become his musical calling card.

I'm just a small-town Canadian boy who loves music.

I started listening to electronic back in 2000 after my brother lent me some CDs for the summer from Sasha & Digweed, Moby, and Orbital. I got into the dance scene shortly after and found a strong connection to trance with DJs like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten, while making some incredible friendships along the way. 

My first attempts at any kind of mixing were late-night vinyl sessions with my roommate listening to some classic trance and house and eventually putting together a simple set-up on my Mac to make some mixes for my commute. I’ve always liked the idea of being able to create a sort of soundtrack to my day-to-day and admire my friends who’ve made a career out of it as they bring such a positive impact to the lives of so many. 

I’ve spent the better part of my adult life abroad - first in China and now in Italy - and music has always been something that keeps me grounded and focused.
