"The Black Rain (Kuroi Ame)" and "The Pale Rain (Aoi Ame).""The Black Rain" which is to be the 6th of the serial release depicts the duality of human beings, the tears shed from endless sorrow and anger, and on the contrary, the strength to live through all such emotions. And it will be followed up by the 7th of the series, "The Pale Rain," which depicts the thawing and breathing of lives after surviving through all difficulties. The 2 sound-soul radiated in a strictly original manner. Never mind the bollocks, all it matters is to deliver something to people's hearts...

It's already been the 8th of the monthly series since its launch in September 2011. Originally made as a part of the live set for the current 20th anniversary world tour, it's been rearranged and refined multiple times reflecting the reactions of the audiences around the world, it finally came together as a complete tune. Two more singles until the serial release commemorating the 20th anniversary of KRUSH’s solo career finally comes to an end. This 9th release of the series is one of the deepest, heaviest tune, dense with distinctive KRUSH world of sounds. The thrill and tense feel mingle each other as if you’ve opened the door you’re not supposed to. Nevertheless, an addictive beat takes the listeners into a whole new world. Experience the sonic-soul that’s ridiculously in-depth & humane.

DJ KRUSH 20th Anniversary Project "Monthly Single Series" #10 (Available on 27th June'12) 

The monthly single release cuts that commenced last September as a project commemorating the 20th anniversary of KRUSH’s solo career, unlike his strictly conceptual albums, is a series of tunes, each with its own concept, and gives a freedom to go for various looks and flavas that push boundaries further out in depicting his world of sounds even more precisely. And here comes the last shot of this series, a tune that’s been integrated into his live set a lot, creating a buzz amongst his fans around the globe. It’s quite fast in tempo compared to other KRUSH tunes, but has those distinctive “in-between spaces,” “phatness,” “roughness,” and “depth” co-existing to complete his world & wrap up this phase of the project.

So this series sees its end after 10 tunes (10 long months), and needless to say, the countdown to the long-long awaited new album has begun (the album will basically be totally different from the tunes in this serial project). Details tba. A new chapter begins, and you are far from leaving your eyes off of DJKRUSH. 

ソロ活動２０周年プロジェクトとして、昨年９月よりスタートしたマンスリー・シングル・シリーズ。アルバムの様に大きなテーマに基づいての曲構成ではなく、それぞれの曲ごとに単体のコンセプトを持ち合わせ、曲調やカラーなども曲毎に良い意味で自由にまとめあげることにより、現在のDJ KRUSHの様々な世界感を余すことなく提示してきたこの企画もいよいよ完結を迎える。本シリーズの最後を飾るのは、ここ数年、高い確立でプレイリストにも組み込まれ、各所で問合せや反響の大きな１曲。KRUSH作品の中では比較的アップテンポな曲調だが、独特の"間"や"厚み"、"荒さ"、"深み"が同居するKRUSHならではの世界感が詰まった作品となった。

本作を含めて１０曲(１０カ月)に渡り続いてきた本シリーズもこれにて完結を迎え、いよいよ待望のソロアルバム(基本的には本シリーズ楽曲陣とは全く違う内容を予定)へのカウントダウンが始まった。詳しい情報は随時発表される予定。新たな章の幕開けとともに、まだまだDJ KRUSHから目が離せない。

It's been about five months since the emergence of COVID-19. The whole world is in fear and we have no choice but to keep social distance. Many people got transmitted and had lost their lives. Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno infuences on his new Lucid Dreams EP: his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.

Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, “Lucid Dreams” is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and fnd his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno; looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions - with exceptional results.

"This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I've loved for some time, but never really felt confdent enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass," he explains. "I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It's a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I'm really proud of."

As one of the most lauded and celebrated figures in Drum & Bass, the Swedish-born, now Bristol-hailing beatsmith Mikal has always pushed boundaries and preset, defined norms, never once being held down by the genres and concepts that are set in stone for so many. With a gritty, succinct production aesthetic and a real ear for the what’s what and who’s who of the subterranean underground, Metalheadz’s ‘silent assassin’ (coined by Goldie) retains one of the most impressive, multi-faceted back catalogues in the scene, breaking new ground with each passing release. Over the years, we’ve seen him excel on long-time collaborator Mako’s stellar Utopia imprint, Break’s distinguished Symmetry Recordings, Ant TC1’s legendary Dispatch Recordings, Horizons Music and plenty more alongside a surefire selection of previous drops delivered through that phenomenal, iconic Metalheadz membrane.

Introduced via Headz’s Genesis series, the Immaterial EP and Wilderness, his debut full-length offering on the historical imprint, Mikal’s emphasis on tight, squared-off, no-nonsense Drum & Bass has led to a large following of fans who just love this sound and approach, and this is evidenced in full by this new masterful album, which just oozes immaculate, refined taste and fully delivers on every single level, with each and every track primed straight for the jugular.

Taking the form of an unapologetic ode of sharp, cascading breakbeats and rave-ridden, eardrum-rupturing bassweight, Mikal returns to Metalheadz with the simply staggering Metalwork LP, a barbaric 16-track tsunami that continuously ups the momentum and heart rate from the first track, all the way through to its mesmerising closing stages. Featuring collaborations with in-demand mic man Visionobi, RIOT and DJ Thor, as well as 13 jaw-dropping solo productions, Mikal asserts his dominance in full here, presenting a mind-bending polymerisation of that quintessential Mikal flow and the sleek, hard-hitting Headz throttle that we all love and cherish.

Realistically, we knew we needed to pen a separate full piece to cover the LP in its magnificent entirety, which will be available to read very soon, but for now we’re humbled to host, premiere and exclusively present one of our favourite cuts from the project: ‘Breaks and Pads’. Here, we’re treated to a bruising, melodic, hard-hitting uppercut of vicious, seething breaks and percs, scything background aesthetics and ragga-etched vox, all perfectly drawn and tied together; the defined mark of an wholly experienced electronic titan. Described by the Headz crew as an ‘instant Metalheadz hit and a linchpin to the whole project’, Breaks and Pads cements its place as one of the most essential licks on the LP. Previously dubbed the "silent assassin" of the Metalheadz camp by Goldie himself, Mikal's music has always been characterised by quality over quantity. The Swedish born, now Bristol-based producer, has the ability to keep his head down in the studio only surfacing when he's satisfied and fulfilled with his sonic creations, something he's held in high esteem for throughout the genre.

His second album on Metalheadz is aptly titled 'Metalwork' and it comes 4 and half years after 'Wilderness', his debut album labelled a "true expedition" by Mixmag and an example of "precision-engineered drum & bass" by Juno. Just like the first album 'Metalwork' contains 16 thunderous tracks, from the opening track 'Journey Into The Reverb' which comes dubbed out and perforated with amen snippets, to the tumultuous temperament of 'Breaks & Pads' which is an instant Metalheadz hit and a linchpin to the whole project.

Collaborations are loosely scattered but perfectly placed as the likes of Visionobi, DJ Thor and RIOT (who has featured on 2 previous Mikal releases) are added into the mix, but for the majority of the album this is Mikal doing what he does best, flaunting his production skills and firmly justifying his position on the label.
