We continue our journey into sound with the Wandering II Compilation. This compilation celebrates the 20th release in the original SS series. A journey that took close to a year to compile and prepare. The tracklist is comprised of friends and artists who share in a connection with Silent Season through their music.

The Wandering Compilation is named after the Wandering tree, a Big Leaf Maple that grows very slowly near the beach by my house. I sit under this tree to ponder and watch the ocean. It’s a favourite place to chill with music and contemplate life. It’s under this tree that the idea of compiling a series of music that embodies the Silent Season vision and sound was born. We welcome you to sit back, close you’re eyes and listen to the sounds of the Wandering II compilation.

In a world rife with chaos there is so much beauty that can be found by being in nature. The aim of the Wandering compilation is to share music that encourages people to take notice of their natural surroundings and find peace within Mother Nature. The love of nature is a common language that transcends political and social boundaries. Through music, nature gives us universal purpose.

Earthen Sea is New York based musician Jacob Long. Since 2006, Long has released music on a variety of formats on a number of labels including Lovers Rock, Imminent Frequencies, and Other People. The music has been noted for its swirling low end, pulsing melodies and propulsive barely-there rhythms and his work has also been described as  having a knack for texture that creates a disorienting, lost-in-your head sensation that allows it to work as both trippy ambience or immersive dance music.

Rings and Mangrove are the main melody voices. Plaits provides the chord drone in the background. Picovoice is providing the higher melody that appears every now and then.

Everything is sequenced from Mutable Instruments Marbles and Korg SQ1.

Modulation provided by Intellijel Quadra and Abstract Data Octocontroller.

Tracked to DAW in one take. Reverb, eq and compression added in DAW.

Producer of electronic, ambient and experimental music from the south coast of England.

Bio:

Immersed in the synth-pop and electronica of the Eighties growing up in southern England, State Azure (b. 1972) found early inspiration in Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis. Deconstructing their tracks ignited his passion, leading him to develop a foundational understanding of electronic music theory, composition and production entirely by ear and experimentation.

He honed his skills as a keyboardist and producer within live bands before venturing into solo ambient/experimental territory. This self-taught journey fostered a deeply improvisational and emotional approach, free from the confines of formal training.

State Azure's sonic world is further shaped by influences beyond music, drawing heavily from science fiction, cosmology, physics, and technology.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the burgeoning online music scene, he launched the State Azure project to connect directly with listeners, debuting with the album 'Outlines' in December 2011.
