This is an unofficial reinterpretation, and all rights belong to the original track by Kiasmos. I created this version as a way to honor their music, which I deeply admire and has been a constant companion in my life. Over the years, their sound has helped me heal, dream, and feel at home—whether I was on the ground or thousands of feet up in the air. I’ve listened to Kiasmos on every flight, and their music has been a safe haven for my soul.

Today, I want to share my vision of their work. Imagine the soft keys of a piano mixed with the gentle sound of strings. That’s what inspired this reinterpretation.

Close your eyes for a moment… picture a group of children laughing in an enchanted forest, bathed in the golden light of sunset. Shadows play across the forest floor. You can almost hear the crunch of dry leaves under their feet. Look closer: see the details of their shoes as they run, splashing through a small puddle. The drops of water catch the light, shining like tiny jewels in the air.

There’s an innocence in their play, a sense of wonder we often forget as we grow older. My reinterpretation aims to capture that essence. It’s dreamy, a little mysterious, but in the end, it brings a feeling of peace—like floating above the clouds. The music grows with emotion, each note a step toward that calm, airy feeling.

In this fast-moving world, it’s easy to lose sight of the simple joys in life. But music has a way of bringing us back… of reminding us of the beauty in everyday moments.

Berlin based composer and producer Ben Lukas Boysen has announced the release of his third album, the progressive and shape-shifting 'Mirage', on 1 May 2020. It follows 2013’s 'Gravity' and the acclaimed 2016 full length 'Spells', a record as much admired by his peers as it was loved by fans that not only yielded remixes from Max Cooper and Tim Hecker, but also opened Jon Hopkins’ Late Night Tales compilation.

Since the release of 'Spells', Ben collaborated with cellist and composer Sebastian Plano on the score for David OReilly’s landmark innovative video game 'Everything'. It was added to the long list for the Best Animated Short at the 90th Academy Awards, making it the first video game to qualify for an Oscar. 

As with 'Gravity' and 'Spells', Ben has an array of musical guests adorning Mirage, including long time collaborator, Berlin based cellist and composer Anne Müller as well as Australian saxophonist and composer Daniel Thorne — for whom Ben wrote parts specifically, having heard his 2019 solo debut 'Lines of Sight'. Lead track 'Medela' features both and takes the listener on a kaleidoscopic journey that slides with ease across sonic terrains.

While on 'Spells' Ben made programmed pieces sound indistinguishable from human playing, with 'Mirage' he set out to do the opposite and make the human touch unrecognisable, creating something of a mystery or a mirage.
