Mantira drops his first original work on Dataless in the form of an infectious two tracker - Tonic Accent and Counterpoint. Tech fuelled beats, trouser wobbling bass and mesmeric leads are very much the order of the day in what is an extremely strong and well produced release.

Lets pull back the curtain on live, improvised techno.
The 159th Episode of the improvised, jammed-from-scratch, live techno-with-jazzy-sprinkles improvised show is here. 

It's entirely made up from scratch, started from zero, no pre-programmed sequences, loops or anything. Join me as I try and come up with a set off the top of my head using synths, drum machines and a looper, and layer jazzy sprinkles of electronic jazz piano over the top.

Techno (live) with Jazzy Sprinkles - Episode 159

Andy Static (Mantira) began his musical journey into the world of dance at the tender age of 12. With partner in crime Melt, Andy has co-promoted one of Newcastle’s longest running and much loved events; ‘Detox’. Born off the back of his own 21st birthday back in 2001 and an event that refused to be pigeon holed whilst delivering an eclectic melting pot of everything from old school and acid techno through to techno, trance and hard dance.

Through these events, he has enjoyed the privilege of playing alongside and warming up for an impressive array of talent, Activa, Sean Tyas, Jon O’Bir, John ‘00’ Fleming, John Askew, K90, Amber D, Anne Savage, Ben Stevens, Bootek, Ed Real, Ellis Dee, Ephexis, Kutski, Lab 4, Lee Haslem, Lucy Fur, Mark Eg, N-JOI, Organ Donors, Paul Glazby, Proteus, Ratpack, Rob Tissera, Rodi Style, Shades of Rhythm, Slipmatt, Vinyl Groover and Yoji Biomehanika to name but a few.

Musical influences come from all areas of the spectrum, Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Paul Van Dyk, the late “great” Tony de Vit, and huge array of trance and techno producers.

Residencies and guest apperances have been had a whole host of events such as Lindisfarne Festival, Goodgreef, Kiddstock, Cause & Effect, Collaborative Northern Effort, Nice but Nasty, Freaky Dancing, Promise and many others.
