Andy Static (Mantira) began his musical journey into the world of dance at the tender age of 12. With partner in crime Melt, Andy has co-promoted one of Newcastle’s longest running and much loved events; ‘Detox’. Born off the back of his own 21st birthday back in 2001 and an event that refused to be pigeon holed whilst delivering an eclectic melting pot of everything from old school and acid techno through to techno, trance and hard dance.

Through these events, he has enjoyed the privilege of playing alongside and warming up for an impressive array of talent, Activa, Sean Tyas, Jon O’Bir, John ‘00’ Fleming, John Askew, K90, Amber D, Anne Savage, Ben Stevens, Bootek, Ed Real, Ellis Dee, Ephexis, Kutski, Lab 4, Lee Haslem, Lucy Fur, Mark Eg, N-JOI, Organ Donors, Paul Glazby, Proteus, Ratpack, Rob Tissera, Rodi Style, Shades of Rhythm, Slipmatt, Vinyl Groover and Yoji Biomehanika to name but a few.

Musical influences come from all areas of the spectrum, Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Paul Van Dyk, the late “great” Tony de Vit, and huge array of trance and techno producers.

Residencies and guest apperances have been had a whole host of events such as Lindisfarne Festival, Goodgreef, Kiddstock, Cause & Effect, Collaborative Northern Effort, Nice but Nasty, Freaky Dancing, Promise and many others.
