Acerbic is the new hard and acid techno alias from Ant Wilson, aka Chicago Loop. Ant started DJ’ing and producing back in the early to mid 1990’s and it was on London’s underground illegal rave scene where he first started making a name for himself. 

After many years of touring and making records within that scene, it was around the beginning of the 2010’s that he began to shift his focus slightly and started to concentrate on launching a new alias, Chicago Loop. This alias was created to better represent the slightly more mainstream and club based techno that Ant increasingly found himself playing at that time and as a result, successfully created a solid name for himself within those circles. And this is the way it has stayed to this day, with Chicago Loop taking up the majority of Ant’s creative studio output… until now! 

Poised to take on the acid and hard techno scene with full force, Acerbic is set to launch in 2023 with 2 heavy 4-track vinyl releases on Stay Up Forever’s sister acid label, ‘Acid Artists in Action’, as well as SUF’s flagship techno label, Cluster Records. Plus, there’s plenty more hard-hitting techno to come from Acerbic, marking Ant’s long-awaited return to the acid and hard techno family. Watch this space…

Stay Up Forever Records

Stay Up Forever or SUF is an independent record label run by the Liberator DJs. It was started in 1992 by Chris, Aaron and Julian who were collectively known as the Liberators, a DJ trio named after the space ship in the old BBC TV Sci Fi series, Blakes Seven.

The Label has consistently been at the front of London’s underground music scene, and is widely regarded as being responsible for creating the genre known as Acid Techno.  Heavily influenced by the UK punk scene, the label has been releasing a steady stream of hedonistic techno rave music, with its trademark sound being based on the distorted Roland TB303 bass synth and the Roland TR909 drum machine.

Stay Up Forever has been name checked by just about every famous DJ in the world, it is notorious for its music being uncompromising and for being staunchly underground.

Over the years the industry has changed and SUF has had to flex a bit to go with the times, the SUF collective was born and under this umbrella is a group of record labels which share a similar vision of staying true to their roots and releasing underground acid techno music for the squat parties and ravers around the world.

They release on 12” vinyl, and the whole operation is still run by Chris Liberator who deals personally with all the labels and artists.
