I’d decided years ago that I didn’t like techno, to my detriment.
On Friday I went to see my mate DJ Sterling Moss play at his night at FOLD - with The Liberators, ALNA and Patrick DSP
I was blown away by their skills - Alna was super funky, Patrick’s set was like being hit by a freight train at full speed and James and Aaron’s set was so good too.
So last night, inspired by the night at FOLD, I made this. Obviously it’s not strictly techno - more like my interpretation of what I heard..

Inspired by my evening at FOLD LONDON watching DJ Sterling Moss, Aaron+Chris LIBERATOR, PatrcikDSP and ALNA followed by seeing Jeff Mills at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Deep in the night... it got a whole lot harder, darker and quite a bit quicker. After 25 years at this craft I have a collection of music that allows me to pick a crate based on my changing mood, and that of the dance floor..

A little old school techno and acid never hurt anyone?

As always, mixed on vinyl, live in one take using my 2 1200's and a Model 1.4 mixer with a Boss DD8 and Reverb.

Stay Up Forever Records

Stay Up Forever or SUF is an independent record label run by the Liberator DJs. It was started in 1992 by Chris, Aaron and Julian who were collectively known as the Liberators, a DJ trio named after the space ship in the old BBC TV Sci Fi series, Blakes Seven.

The Label has consistently been at the front of London’s underground music scene, and is widely regarded as being responsible for creating the genre known as Acid Techno.  Heavily influenced by the UK punk scene, the label has been releasing a steady stream of hedonistic techno rave music, with its trademark sound being based on the distorted Roland TB303 bass synth and the Roland TR909 drum machine.

Stay Up Forever has been name checked by just about every famous DJ in the world, it is notorious for its music being uncompromising and for being staunchly underground.

Over the years the industry has changed and SUF has had to flex a bit to go with the times, the SUF collective was born and under this umbrella is a group of record labels which share a similar vision of staying true to their roots and releasing underground acid techno music for the squat parties and ravers around the world.

They release on 12” vinyl, and the whole operation is still run by Chris Liberator who deals personally with all the labels and artists.
