Altogether, Part Three Album Sampler (Out Now!)

Bath based prodigy Troy Gunner returns with a stunning three track EP for fledgling London based label The Crescent. Furthering his reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting and innovative young producers, Troy continues his explorations into a completely unique sound. The Headlights EP follows a critically acclaimed 12” for Manchester’s Mindset Records and a stunning remix of Gang Colours’ ‘To Repel Ghosts’ for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood imprint.

The Headlights EP captures a snapshot of a producer confident in his aesthetic, with title track Headlights a glorious representation of Troy’s sound. Plunging basslines and airy atmospheres trail in the wake of a fractured UKG beat, with snatched vocal samples intelligently put together so as to tread the fine line that underpins Troy’s productions, the blurred distinction between euphoria and melancholy.

On the flip Thank You For Nothing emerges forcefully out of a shuffle of field recordings and warped laughter with a weighty 4x4 kick and a slab of sub bass. B2 Elixir has been on constant rotation amongst DJs in the know for a few month now. Subtle yet euphoric and pacy, it’s a perfect example of Troy’s take on club sounds.

The Headlights EP will be released on 12” and digital formats soon, distributed through SRD.

At 18, during a summer trip visiting family near Barcelona, he decided to teach himself how to create beats; so he would have something to paint/ graffiti to. Blue imagines himself spray painting whilst crafting his beats and notes this as the reason behind the introspective, laid-back vibe of his music. he is also 1/2 of Brown X Blue on Reprezent Radio who have DJ'd everywhere from Gorrilaz world tour, lovebox, Nike, TATE Britain and this years upcoming Parklife festival.

I've been continuing to record new shows weekly, but I'm finally back uploading and this week I pay tribute to one of the greatest producers of our time and a man I’m proud to know, Evil Needle. As the first person to get me into the future beat scene and Soulection back in 2012 through Tall Black Guy’s incredible Tempo Dreams Vol. 1 compilation it’s been amazing watching his growth since then. With a unique sound that blends bass lines and melodies in a way that is distinctively his, Needle has proven time and time again that when it comes to genres he can tackle anything. In this first volume of Essential Evil Needle we revisit some of his best R&B and Hip-Hop tracks, with a fair number of unreleased tracks he’s been working on recently.

Since I released All Knxwledge Mix back in 2014 people have been asking me to do similar mixes for other artists and so I’m proud to debut this as the first mix in my new Essentials series in which I compile my favourite tracks by some of my favourite producers.
