ALIKAT:

Not your average "vocalist with accompaniment" type deal, ALIKAT is a musical collage of sounds that seems to epitomise the word "FUNK".

ALIKAT is composed of Kat Alano and Allen Umali. Alano, a former MTV VJ and local electronica muse with projects such as Deci:Belle and Br3aking Silence, is the voice of the duo, and Umali is the man behind the funky groove as he has been with ThirdWorldProject, Sinosikat, and ANOMALI . ALIKAT is a refreshing dose of attitude and spunk in an all too predictable, ever so monochromatic world.

Having caught the eye, and more importantly, turned the ears, of movers and shakers in both local and international music circles, ALIKAT's sexy, jazzy-infused, adamantly unapologetic sound -- a composite of dulcet vocals set against a decidedly dramatic beat (with live bass guitar, no less) -- signals that pop music is transcending sappy, lovelorn vocals and insipid arrangements into deeper, highly-conscientious, and provocative pieces.
