I was commisioned by the Camerata Variabile to compose a new work which had to be in relation to the topic of the concert which was the ‘fragment’ and the result is ‘Fragmente von der Vollkommenheit des Unvollendeten’ where I made a jump back to a language I was more familiar with in my beginnings as a composer and which I have amusingly ‘brushed up’ for this occasion.
It was premiered by Karin Dornbusch at the clarinet and Christopher Dangel at the cello.

A "Il pianista" scopriamo la musica per pianoforte di Alexander Zemlinsky, grazie a un bel disco di Emanuele Torquati. A cavallo fra due mondi, quello di Mahler e Richard Strauss da un lato, e quello di Schoenberg e della Seconda Scuola di Vienna dall'altro, Zemlinsky ha scritto musica notevole, ma ha avuto la sfortuna di rimanere a lungo confinato in una sorta di limbo, forse a causa di uno stile difficile da classificare. Oggi ne ascoltiamo alcuni lavori, dalle Ländliche Tänze a Ein Lichtstrahl, passando per le Balladen (in parte ispirate a quelle di Brahms, che fu fra i primi sostenitori di Z.) e le Fantasien über Gedichte von Richard Dehmel; lo stesso Torquati colloquierà con Luca Ciammarughi per approfondire genesi e caratteristiche di questi lavori.

Pierini: Canzoni al sol (2016)

Born in 1971, he studied composition with Fabio Nieder after being graduated in the Conservatory of Turin under Gilberto Bosco. He attended also composition workshops with Toshio Hosokawa and Luis De Pablo.   
Several ensembles and soloists as BIT20 Ensemble, Atlas Ensemble, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, Wu Wei, Michele Marelli, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Ernest Rombout, Ensemble Orchestral Contemporaine, Delian Quartett, ensemble L'arsenale among others played and play his compositions.
His music was performed in italian and international festivals such as MITO Settembre Musica, Impuls Graz, Musikfest Stuttgart, Gare du nord Basel, Rai Nuova Musica, Moscow Forum Festival, Milano Musica, Konzerthaus Berlin,  Musica Nova Helsinki, Muziekgebouw aan't ij  among the others.
Some of his compositions were broadcasted by the Italian National Radio RadioRAI3, the Slovenian Radio Television, Radio 4 Holland and Radio Yle 1 Finland.
He worked with the Centre for the Electronic Music Research AGON Arsmagnetica of Milan with which he realized several multimedia projects. 
He taught composition in the ‘Scuola Civica’ of Turin and collaborates with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai.
