When I got the opportunity to play in front of an audience for the first time, not to mention at my favorite festival, O.Z.O.R.A., I knew I had to create something special! 

The first hour of the mix start out nice and slow at 80BPM with chill/ambient/idm artists I really enjoy listening to, slowly ramping up to about 120-130BPM where it stays for a while for the second hour, which consists mostly of my own music, just to increase to a massive 180BPM in the end. The closing song is part of a new glitch music project I'm working in with a Danish friend of mine, keep your eyes open for more announcements regarding that =)

The set is part dj-set partly live, I am overlaying instruments (synths, strings, pianos, harps, etc.) on top of most of the songs I play to make give them a little bit of continuity throughout the mix but I am trying to do this in a way so that it sounds like it is actually part of the songs! I also remixed most of the songs in the mix to keep the set interesting and rolling =)

Diaspora del Flamenco combines an Indian melody with Iberian style. Spanish gypsy music owes some of its origins to the people who, centuries ago, wandered from western India towards Europe bringing their music and dance with them. This piece experiments with a reconciliation of the two styles.

As a thank you for a wonderful Gaggalacka festival at the end of last summer, here comes the next musical journey for you: A Purple Playground. In anticipation of Latvian producer Puremusic's second artist album forthcoming on Silk Sofa, we're proud to present the first single, "Unsaid". This unique piece is accompanied by two strong remixes by Stray Theories (New Zealand) and State Azure (UK).

The Original Mix begins with a hypnotic groove and captivating sound effects. A lush, subtle piano line is added, as well as breath-taking, floating arpeggio lines. After an intriguing break, the song continues in full effect with all the arpeggio layers and underlying piano sounds, supported by enjoyable percussion elements. Stray Theories returns to Silk Sofa after his acclaimed remix of Koda's "The Last Stand" on the label. A truly enchanting intro with well-crafted string lines kick off this track, and supportive piano notes are added soon thereafter. The addition of new, bright piano strokes on top truly spices up the captivating soundscape, which is already filled with several fascinating arpeggio layers. State Azure is a new signing to Silk Sofa, and his interpretation of "Unsaid" turned out to be quite a keeper. His remix kicks off with a great combination of arpeggio lines, intriguing sound effects, and a truly captivating and well-crafted breakbeat. The guitar strokes suit the background melodies perfectly, and the intermittent string notes on top unmistakably enhance the atmosphere.

I am a lucky guy. Slowly but surely I get the chance to collaborate with most of the bands that made my day 2 decades ago. If back in 1994 anyone would tell me that I will remix Art of Trance or appear on their legendary label Platipus Records somewhere in the far future, I would probably roll on my back laughing at the idea ( I wasn't even intending making Electronic music at that time ). But what the blip do we know...

The first year I went to Burning Man, this was the sunrise anthem. Its probably Rodman's most recognized tune, and has been played my many other DJ's and producers throughout the years, most notably being frequently played by Bassnecter. 
I've tried to balance the idea of making a full on remix, with what I felt was the need to keep the original material and feel intact, and have focused on bringing the sound quality up to current standards, and adding some personal touches that don't change the original idea of the track too much. This is how I feel he should be remembered, as a brilliant, influential producer and caring person.

Human Theory

Official channel of Stefanos Tortopoglou / Stefan Torto.
Born in Athens and self-educated in guitar, piano, percussion and music technology, Stefanos has been involved in various forms of electronic and natural sound from the age of 7.

To date, he has released a total of 14 studio albums, 10 extended plays, and 11 singles.

As a composer and sound designer, he has composed music for various visual presentations, including projection mapping, holograms, and virtual reality experiences. His work has been commissioned by big names like National Geographic, Nike, Red Bull, Heineken, Microsoft, Samsung, and many more.

Additionally, as a stage musician and sound designer, he has participated in theatrical productions of the National Theatre of Greece and other productions, touring in ancient Greek theaters and internationally.

Several of his tracks have been released in music compilations and used for film/short film productions worldwide.

Also Co-founder and composer of the Zen Garden and Dreamakers multi performance projects.

Finally, as a sound designer, he conducted research and created sounds and presets for VST instruments for major corporations.
